Possible Move?
This is a picture of Salem (my roommate's kitten). She's the best. I really miss having a kitten of my own so I think I'm going to the animal shelter tomorrow or Thursday.

I had off Sunday and Monday - that was pretty cool. I worked tonight and now I have another two days off. Not so cool. That's the thing about working for the MGM. You have to start off at the bottom or on-call as they like to call it. So, I never know from week to week how many days I'll be working and I have rarely ever get two days in a row off. This week they only gave me three shifts and that sucks!! I did manage to pick up one more day though.
I have a whole list of things to do tomorrow - it's fun stuff though. I like getting my nails done and I love pedicures. I also enjoy going to the car wash cause I love it when my car is nice and clean. Most of all I love going to the mall. I'm gonna try to stay away from there though.
Lately I've been thinking about transferring from the restaurant over to the poker room to deal. The manager of the poker room told me to come see him when I got through probation and I'm definitely done with probation now. I also had lunch today with one of the poker dealers and he was telling me how much they make. Wow! I mean, on a very slow night a few days ago he made $200.00. I make that at my restaurant too but it's mostly on busy nights and I have to work pretty hard for that money. Dealing is something I could do that wouldn't put so much wear and tear on my body. I'm really thinking hard about this move. My friend told me that they have a really cheap class over at the community college that you can take to learn how to deal. Ummmmm - does anybody else think it's weird that they offer gaming classes at college? I guess anything's possible in Vegas.
Well - I have to get up early in the morning so I think I'm gonna head to bed.

Dealing can be hard on your body, just in different ways. Dealers continually strech their backs to reach for chips, cards, and the dealer button. You're also parked in a seat the whole time you're working.
You'd also be trying to pick up shifts no one wants as a dealer when you're first starting out. So, your schedule would be totally fucked.
I'm not trying to discourage you (I'd be a dealer myself if I could swing it), but I thought I'd let you know the above information so you can mull it over.

I agree with Wolf. But as you know, a lot of pros got their start dealing...so, with the experience, you can end up on TV at the FT of a WPT or WSOP event someday, best case scenario. Never hurts to consider the optimal outcome. Hope things work out whatever your decision.

Buy the kitten!
Try hard and become the poker dealer!
You can do whatever you want o if you try hard.

those crappy shifts would also probably mean less money as well. if you want to know what it's like to deal a good blogger gives a little insight http://pkrdlr.blogspot.com/

Carmen, you'd be a fantastic dealer! The guys are right, it's not easy as a job, but neither is waitressing and you have a strong work ethic.

Carmen - how about going to school for massage therapy? You could work at one of the spas @ the hotels. You could make $60-$80 an hour!

I don't think it's weird they offer gaming classes at CCSN and UNLV but, then again, I am a Gaming Management major. I do have a class entirely devoted to slot machines (seriously). If you're thinking of doing the dealing thing I think it would be a great idea to do it through CCSN.
