DWTS - Week 5
I can't believe it's week 5 already!!!!! Time is flying by - thank god I have a DVR and I can tape this damn show. The amount of commercials they show is RIDICULOUS!! Seriously, I tape the Monday night and Tuesday night episodes of Dancing with the Stars and then I fast forward through all of the commercials and most of the interviews and I'm able to watch all the good stuff in like an hour. That's a lot better than the 2 and a half hours they drag it out to.
Okay - here we go. First off, let me say that I'm so happy that the voting has been right on point. Every single week I watch the dancers, I review the dances and I make my pick of who should go home based soley on who DESERVES to go home. So far it hasn't been a popularity contest. The people who deserved to go home, have gone home and I'm very pleased with the results.
Bye Bye Clyde Drexler!!

Cheryl Burke and 90210 boy were the first couple this week and they did the Samba. Generally, the samba is known as the carnival dance and it originates in Rio de janeiro. It's a really fun dance and it's done in the street and people wear costumes and you are supposed to just let loose and have fun with it. Ian let loose - a little too loose for my taste. I can't put my finger on it with him because he's got talent, you can see that, but I think he's nervous about the technical stuff a lot of the time and he either goes overboard with his movements or he is concentrating too hard and doesn't do enough. He could be a real contender in this contest, but he keeps messing up. He's not FEELING the rhythm and he's not FEELING the dances.

Heather Mills and her partner Jonathan did the samba too. Up until the very end, she did a great routine. Maybe she should have worried less about waxing her partner's chest and worried a little more about the stability of her leg. ha ha That was kinda of mean, but it's funny.

This picture was taken exactly one and a half seconds before she fell. It was a really small fall and basically she just lost her balance there at the end. The dance was still very good, her hip action was great, her smile was fantastic, she had a lot of fun with it and she let loose like she always does. Good for her.
Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson did the rumba. This is a seductive and sexy dance and it's slow. It's important that you stay in character and Joey definitely did that. I thought he did a great job. One of the judges said that he looked feminine when he did the dance, but I totally disagree. If he looked feminine maybe it was becaus he was practicing with Lance Bass and Alfonso Ribiera earlier in the week. I thought it was an awesome dance, he stayed in character like always, he had fun and most importantly, he has rythm and that is something you CANNOT learn.

They got a 25 out of 30 - so whatever. I'm sure he'll be back on top next week.
So, next on the dance floor was Cliffy (John Ratzenberger) and Edyta. I'm loving him. He's growing on me BIG TIME. He's adorable and he really brought it this week! I was so happy to see him having fun with this dance. He did the whole drum thing and he threw some 70's disco fever in there. I'm a sucker for the 70's!

Look how much fun he's having!!!
And, can we please take a minute to discuss Edyta Sliwinksi's body. Good lord. She's so tall and so thin and so graceful. My god! I'm just in awe everytime that woman comes out on the floor. I mean, all the dancers are hot, but it makes a difference when you are tall like that. If you put her next to Cheryl Burke, you see why the height makes such a difference. Cheryl has a great body too, but next to Edyta, she doesn't compare.

Could she wear any skimpier of an outfit??? I guess we'll find out.
Laila Ali and Maxim did the rumba. I loved it! She's so awesome. Her fiance' was adorable with his little jealous act in the beginning. Laila has such an athletic body and she's so toned, but she doesn't look bulky. She looked really pretty this week. The dance was very sensual, her and Maxim work well together and she can really work those hips! Her dance this week was her best so far.

Billy Ray Cyrus and Karina are probably going home in the next few weeks, but I love em. He's got got such heart. He doesn't usually do the technical stuff correctly, but he tries like hell and she's such a southern gentleman. Plus - who know he had these arms??????

He should wear sleeveless shirts always!!!!!
I love the purple outfits too. Purple is my favorite color and it looked great on them. THis wasn't his best dance, because he looked really awkard and uncomfortable. My guess is that he was uncomfortable doing a sexy and intimate dance with someone he barely even knows. My guess is that he's a loyal husband. I might be totally wrong, but I don't think so.

And, by far the best dance of the night was Apolo and Juliane's samba. They rocked the house!!!!!
Here's the clip...
I can't get enough of these two. They are so cute and fun to watch. All of the elements came together in this routine and they scored a perfect 30. Watch out Joey and Kym!

Just for the record though, Joey seems a little more comfortable in his own skin and I think that's really important. If I had to pick a winner right now, it would be Joey Fatone and Kym.
Who should go home next week? Now it's starting to get tough. The first 5 weeks were obvious. This is where we really start separating the men from the boys.

Always love your reviews. Funny, as I was scrolling down thru the Cliffy/Edyta review, I was thinking "Wow, she has a great body". Then, WAM, you talk about her body. Great minds?
The bodies of these dancers are amazing. But then, I am a total leg and shoe guy.
I see Heather leaving next week and then it gets really tough with Cliffy probably after that.

"Could she wear any skimpier of an outfit??? I guess we'll find out."
God I hope so! hahha
Clyde has been in danger of being voted off each week. But, you're right. It's going to get harder and harder now.
I don't like Heather Mills. Not so much about her dancing, I just don't like her. I don't know why. I don't even know her.

DUDE. Apollo and Juliane?! Amazing. So glad to see Clyde go home...now it needs to be Billy Ray and Cliffy. They're lovely men, but they're just not cutting it.
I have to disagree with your assessment of Heather's dance. I didn't think it was great, really. Fun, but not technically great.

I didn't know Billy Ray had those arms either! Very, very nice.

Clyde was on Jimmy Kimmel last night and seemed relieved to have been voted off. For Clyde to have had a chance they needed to bring back Stacey Keibler to dance with him.
I don't think any of us needed to see the waxing this week.

Apollo was fantastic. He seems like a natural, to me. But, Heather? Not so much. She should have gone a long time ago.

Sorry chica, but I think Cliffy's the next to go home. He does have that old guy charm, kinda like a dancing grandpa, but does not touch the skills of the rest.
