On Fire
If you are heading to Vegas this weekend, skip the Monte Carlo. The 32nd floor is on fire right now. We can actually see the smoke from work. I myself will be heading to the MGM tonight to play tonight with Donkey Puncher - right now the strip is closed down. I hope he made it to his hotel already.

that proves it.. smoking is bad for everyone's health.. I imagine someone fell asleep with a cig burning (just a guess obviously)

I've been watching it burn on CNN. Did you happen to hear that moron calling it a "discount hotel"? He claimed that it didn't have as many amenities as the other hotels on the strip. I don't know about the amenities, but I don't think a 3,000 room hotel would be considered a "discount hotel".

I heard here (all the way in cold NY) that it started due to some welding being done on the roof. No one injured and the fire is out. Damage mainly the the exterior.

I saw your post on another blog and figured I'd give you a headsup about a WPT giveaway I'm running this year.

The first satellite is held on Full Tilt Poker (a freeroll) February 10th.
Right now there's only 34 players signed up, the top 4 advance to a single-table semi-final in February. The fields aren't going to get any smaller as word of this promotion spreads. So if you want in, you'll want to play some of the earlier events to have less competition.
