My weekend
I don't know why I was so surprised to find out that the Southern Utah region of Narcotics Anonymous barely has like 10 meetings a week. Up until recently they didn't even have a meeting everyday. I'm so spoiled. Living in Maryland, South Florida and then here in Vegas I've always been able to find lots of meetings day or night. Anytime I feel the need, I can pick up and head to a meeting. This is not the case in smaller towns.
So, when most of us last minute Vegas folks decided to support Southern Utah's very first convention, we all just picked up and drove out of town, but none of us pre-registered. We just waited til we got there to pay our money. Well, they were expecting maybe 90 people and instead about 300 of us showed up! Oops! They were not very prepared. They were glad to have us, but the meeting room was tiny. It was standing room only at most of the meetings and the Ramada was only 3 stories high. Wow - culture shock! Luckily we got a room ahead of time.
St. George was beautiful. I wouldn't want to live there, but it was a great weekend. Very friendly people, lots of sunshine, lots of time to relax - I even got to lay by the pool and got a nice tan.
I'll post a few pictures and then I need to head to bed...
Me and Cheryl...
Her and I have always been sponsee sisters, but she works nights and I work days, so we don't get to see each other at many meetings. It was good times spending the weekend with her and getting to know her better.
A few of us hanging by the pool...
The Girlz...
Group Dinner at Texas Roadhouse - the convention ran out of banquet tickets immediately so we had to eat all of our meals out - which was fine because banquet food usually sucks anyway...
I ended up going to see the Sex and the City movie today when I got home from Utah. I liked it. I know I'm crazy, everyone else in the world hated it, but I liked it. I liked the ending, I loved the fashion, I cried tears of joy and tears of sorrow for the characters, I guess I was just feeling emotional today, but whatever. It was definitely long though. They could have cut an hour out of it and it probably would have been better.

Don't feel bad about liking Sex and the City. My wife loved it and said she wants to buy it when it comes out on DVD.
Luckily, I didn't have to go, one of her friends bailed me out.

I happened onto your blog today. I have been holed up in my apartment for 5 days detoxing and being sick and trying to make myself go to a meeting after being lost for 7 years.

Hey Richard - I hope you go to a meeting. I know it's hard at first, but you know it's the right thing to do and after you get into a groove you will feel so much better.
I tried to leave you a message on your blog, but comments were not enabled and there was no e-mail address.
If I can help, let me know.
