Road Trip Part V
So, we finally get back to Maryland after a horrendously long trip back home with 5 of us crammed into a truck and I get my car back from Chrissy and unfortunately her car is still stuck in Texas. Her parents are livid!!!! I guess they bought the car for her and I'm sure they are thinking "what the hell kind of friend takes your car to Texas and then just dumps it there and doesn't bring it back home?" I mean, it was definitely a messed up situation.
They paid like $800.00 to have it shipped back to Maryland and then they had to pay like another $1,000.00 to have the engine replaced.
Of course they wanted me to pay for the repairs even though the engine seized up because of years of neglect, it was just really unfortunate that it happened while I was borrowing it on a road trip to texas.
At any rate, a few weeks later I wasn't surprised when I received a court summons from her parents - they were sueing me. Ouch! I was nervous!
My uncle knew his way around a court room pretty well. He had been on the giving and receiving end of a few civil suits, so he was happy to accompany me to court. It was nice to have him there for moral support. Chrissy told her parents she wasn't testifying - she wanted no part of this.
So, the big day came and I met my uncle at the courthouse and basically what happened is that they brought their mechanic in to testify.
He got up on the stand and explained how much the car cost to be fixed and when the judge asked him if the car broke down because the owner didn't have the oil changed on a regular basis, he couldn't lie - he said "yes". Case dismissed - I didn't have to pay a dime!! Good times!
Army Guy Ron aka Pryck and I never spoke again. Not a big deal since he was in Texas and I was in Maryland. He definitely lived up to his nickname though - he was a total asshole.
Melissa and I are still buddies. She lives in Maryland and obviously I live here in vegas, so we don't ever see each other, but we still talk over e-mail and she's one of the people that stood by me through all of the rough times. I'm lucky to still have her as a friend.
Chrissy is still friends with Melissa and I think she bought yet another Hyundai!! I doubt she ever lent it to anyone else for a road trip to Texas though.
The puppy of the day is so cute today!!
