Massages

Am I the only person in this country who doesn't like getting a massage? I know I must sound like a nut job to most of you because everyone I know raves about massages and how relaxing they are and how much they love getting massages.

Well, for me, I find it very difficult to relax when laying on a table half nekkid letting some random stranger rub me down. I actually tense up more.

The whole thing just bugs me. From the time you walk in, you have to pay an exhorbitant amount of money and then they expect you to like take off all your clothes and walk around in a bathrobe and then if you want to get into the hot tub or sauna or whatever, you are supposed to do it nekkid. That's another thing that bothers me. I'm not a fan of public nudity. So, walking around nekkid in front of other people makes me extremely uncomfortable. And then, I never know whether I'm supposed to wear underwear or strip completely down when I lay on the table and then I'm so uneasy when the person is touching me and rubbing me. UGH. The whole thing just makes me sick to my stomach.

And then, you have to pay a ton of money for the actual massage and then you have to tip them too. I never even know how much I'm supposed to tip. And, for me to be more stressed out when I leave, sort of defeats the purpose.

I'm also not a big fan of nudity in general. I never walk around the house nekkid. I don't sleep nekkid. In fact, I usually wear a long t-shirt and sweats when I'm sleeping.

Am I complete basket case? All of my friends rave about how great they feel when they get massages and they have like reguarlar appointments and they go all the time. This is one luxury that I'll pass on.

What do you guys think?

Sounds like a lot of the stress is induced from not knowing what to do. Much like that first time someone wants to play poker in a casino. Why not ask your more seasoned friends how much to tip, or if it's okay to wear a bikini or something instead of going nude? I imagine most spas get people all the time who aren't comfortable with nudity and are used to minimal clothes instead of none at all.

Then again, I still don't see the point in spending that much money on something that 90% of the time can be accomplished by simply relaxing, meditating, or developing a proper posture.

Interesting.... I don't know that I would have pegged you as being so modest. Not a bad thing, just that on most matters you always seem so open. That said, I will have to agree with you, I'm not a big fan of massages. Seems more of an intimate thing to me. So, even though you may be a basket case... it's a really big basket and you've got company.

In my experience, you are correct. I'm no prude, but on a couple of occassions when I've had a massage, it was all hype. There is something mildly creepy about a stranger rubbing you down, especially if it doesn't end in a handjob. I wish I were joking.

On the other hand, a massage from someone you know, especially when it may lead to coitus, can be a shit ton of fun.

So I guess that a girls spa day is out for you, huh? lol

Actually, I can see where you are coming from with that. It can be a little unsettling to have a stranger put their hands all over you. I must say though that I've gotten much easier with it all after a few sessions. lol

I think you saying you don't like to be naked just lost you about 75 percent of all your male readers. I know you just blew up Waffles' fantasy.

I do like massages except for the part where they lift your head up by the neck. Gives me a headache everytime. Took me a while to realize I could tell them what I wanted and what I didn't want. PS, I wear underwear but that's just how I roll.

You are NOT crazy! There is no worse torture than a massage in my opinion. I can not relax and every time that I have tired, I have ended up bruised and sore. What the heck is fun about that?

I know how you feel. I am not much of a fan of being naked either, especially in front of strangers. I like massages once in a while though. I keep my bra & panties on. I figure that lets them know not to touch me in those places. They usually ask if they can undo the hook to massage my back. I'm fine with that, but the bra stays on.

I'm so with you Carmen. I'm not a fan of nekkid either and I didn't enjoy the one full body massage that I had in my lifetime. It may have had something to do with the fact that it was a guy and I think without asking he went right in with deep tissue massage and I was just tense and sore during and after. I absolutely LOVE facials though. Very relaxing and you don't have to totally disrobe, just shirt off, bra on with straps down and a towel wrapped around you.

I agree with the naked thing, as well. And as far as massages...like paying, massage by a pro -- I've only had one or two and they were from my g/f that did massage therapy school...so luckily, it wasn't awkward or anything. :)

Same here. It's NOT my bag at all. It's a personal space thing for me.
