Vegas Shows

So, I went to see Phantom Of The Opera last night at the Venetian. What a lovely performance. I mean, here's the deal - I'm really not into opera music. I've never been to an opera and I don't exactly love opera music.

That being said, the theater was beautiful and the costumes were awesome and the sets were brilliant. I can totally appreciate all of the work and pageantry that goes into these shows. We had great seats and it was a good time. If you enjoy the opera, this is a must see.

So far, living in Vegas I've had an opportunity to see many shows.

I'll do a little synopsis here for you guys in case anyone is coming to town and wants to see a show.

Most recently, I saw Blue Man Group over a the Venetian and it was amazing! I loved it. I didn't think I would like it and I thought the tickets were way over priced until I got in there, sat down and took it all in. Wow - great show! So unique, they interact with the crowd and it's like nothing I've ever seen. It's a must see and worth every penny. Even though I didn't actually have to pay a dime :)

Another favorite of mine is La Reve over at the Wynn - I've seen it twice and I would go another few tines if I could.

It's the best! There are so many things going on at once. Every corner of the theater is being used. So, if you look left, you might be missing something really cool that is going on to the right. I also love water based shows and La Reve is a water type cirque show. It's amazing the stunts that these performers pull off. Truly brilliant.

I also saw Ka over at the MGM Grand. They gave me two free tickets when I was hired on over there. It was the first show I ever saw in Las Vegas and it definitely didn't disappoint. The set was over the top. It was very exciting and extremely unique. Anyone would love this show.

Over at the Planet Hollywood I saw the Magic Show starring Pamela Anderson. It was LAME!! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I'm not even sure if it's still there. I think they killed it off. But again, it was not worth seeing.

The shows I just mentioned are all kind of pricey.

I've also seen quite a few cheaper shows that I've enjoyed immensely.

The first one that comes to mind is Roseanne Barr over at the Sahara. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes for this one because the Sahara is pretty much a dump and isn't Roseanne sort of a has been? Well, has been or not, that chick cracked me the fuck up. I laughed my ass off for 2 hours straight. She was great!!! I loved her. My mom and I went together and the tickets were very reasonable and we really really enjoyed her show. She's a riot.

Another show that was surprisingly awesome was over a the Golden Nugget and it's called Defending the Caveman. Holy shit! Another 2 hours of laughing my ass off. It's a one man show and he just talks about the differences between men and women and he's so dead on. It was hysterical and I'm pretty sure we got the tickets on a buy one get one free basis. All the more reason to check out this show.

I still have a huge list of shows that I want to see in the future. They include...

O at the Bellagio

Love at the Mirage

The new Chris Angel show

Mystere at Treasure Island

and of course

Dancing with the Stars the Tour is coming to Vegas in December. My mom, Kathy at work and I are definitely going to see them when they come to town. Can't wait!

Well, that's my little synopsis on shows around town. Hope this helps.

Sounds like some good shows...except for Rosanne Barr...I'd rather have food poisoning. LOL

I've seen Mystere and it was amazing!

I'd love to check out the new Wynn place. He is a minor idol of mine and someday hope to get back there to check it out.

I've seen Mystere, but it was many years ago. It was very cool.

I also saw Starlight Express at the Stardust. Of course, the Stardust is gone now.

And I saw some show at the Riviera. I wish I could remember the name of it. Lots of really beautiful women in that one.

And the "show" at the Olympic Garden wasn't bad either. LOL ;-)

I don't mean to poop on your parade, but the wife and I saw the DWTS live show in AC and it was terrible. Since there is no contest, per se, the dancing isn't as good or even as interesting. It just got so boring. The show really does not lend itself to an audience like that. It might be good on TV or even in the smaller TV studio, but if the venue is big, it just doesn't grab the attention as much. We ended up walking out during intermission.

So, just a heads up. You may enjoy it, but I would tread carefully and read some more reviews online.

Ok, I'm going to have another trip planned for the long weekend in January. Let's work on going to see a Cirque show.

cool - great list. Mac King at Harrahs is a daytime comedy show and I thought it was awesome! My hubs and I saw KA last year and it rocked. I really want to see Blue Man Group too. I can't wait; 14 days and counting!
