Day Four in Cali

They named a street after me...

So, our last day in California arrived - quickly! As always, our trip flew by. We had to check out right away and then we headed over to Grauman's Chinese Theater four our Tourist Bus Trip. Whenever we go away we do one of those touristy trips, like in San Francisco we did the hop on hop off double decker bus tour and that was perfect! In L.A. we picked an AMAZING tour and it had three parts. The thing that drew us in the most was that they said this was the best tour you can take to possibly see a star. We were all about seeing a star and plus we didn't want to do just the regular old tour that everyone does. So, it was a little more expensive but we chose the three part tour.

Part One - Stars Homes! This is a tour that probably everyone visiting L.A. does. You sit back on the bus and relax as the driver takes you through Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Rodeo Drive, etc. He slows down and shows you the homes of lots of famous people like Al Pacino,

Al's very modern home...

Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Hottie David and Victoria Beckham, Nicholas Cage, The Playboy Mansion, Aaron Spelling, Christina Aguilera and many more. A lot of them you can't see from the street because of the gates and the trees. But, a lot of them you can see just fine.

So, it was a good tour. I snapped tons of pictures, but I'll be damned if I can remember who's house is who now that it's been a week or two.

Mom and I hanging out on Rodeo Drive...

Part Two - BEST and most unique part of the day. Sony Pictures.

Mom hanging out in the lobby at Sony...

We actually got to go on the Sony Pictures Lot where they actually do lots of filming and we walked all around the place and saw all kinds of cool stuff. The MOST EXCITING part of the trip was when we were standing there waiting for our tour guide to open up this building and take us in. I'm standing there and I see this girl and guy coming our way. The girl had blonde hair and she was carrying and umbrella to cover herself from the sun that was beating down. I was thinking to myself. "Oh lord - these L.A. people are so funny. They must really think this is a hot day. They should try living in Vegas in August. They don't know what real heat is." and furtermore I was thinking this chick probably thinks she's hot shit and doesn't want the sun to hit her face because she's a wanna be actress and doesn't want to get sun/wrinkles/premature aging. As all of this crap is running through my head, she gets closer and closer and I realize it's Cameron Diaz!!!!! Holy crap! She walked right by me. I started elbowing my mom and then hurried up and tried to get my camera out. The whole group saw her. It was the highlight of my day! She looked beautiful. Really really pretty in person. We also got to sit in the audience of the Wheel of Fortune. There was nobody there. We just got to go in and sit down. It was pretty cool.

Here's a picture of Cameron's butt...

Part Three - The third part of the tour was walking tour on the Sunset Strip. We got lots of history about Grauman's and the walk of fame and the Hollywood Sign and about the Kodak Theater and the Oscars that are held there every year.

Chinese Theater...

Very informative and fun. We had a great tour guide. I had no idea that the Kodak theater is a mall!!!!! They drop curtains in front of all of the stores to turn it into the entrance for the Oscars. And the red carpet is actually the street!!!!! They shut it down for 5 days leading up to the big event. I'll never look at the red carpet the same again.

Stairway at Kodak Theater (where all of the actresses make their big entrances)...

The very end of our day, as we were heading back to our car and about to head back to Vegas, we get stopped on the sidewalk. They shut down traffic and they are about to film a scene of a movie. They yell "ACTION" and I see Jamie Foxx go running across the street filming some sort of action scene! It was so cool! What a great way to end our trip.

So, all in all, I got to see Drew Carey at the Price is Right, Cameron Diaz at Sony Studios and Jamie Foxx filming an actual scene. Great trip!!

Great trip report, Carmen! Funny thing is I live in LA but I never really think about all the cool stuff there is around here. (I'm always dreaming about going to Vegas!)
