So embarrassing
So, I have the house to myself for the next few days. The rents went on a cruise and I'm taking care of my dopey little opey. Well, day one has officially passed and so far so good. Last time they went away I had already totalled my car by the end of day one. You know my dad was so worried about leaving. He swears that everytime they go away something bad happens. I think he's over-reacting a little bit. I'm going to make sure to cover all my tracks this time around so that he won't worry so much for next time. ha ha Just kidding! No tracks to cover. I'm just going to stay out of trouble all together.
Anyway, I wanted to tell you guys this story about my dad, but I thought he might be embarrassed about it so I've been putting it off. Now that he's gone for a week I'll go ahead and spill it...
Over the past few years my father's hearing has been getting worse and worse. He rarely ever hears you when you are speaking to him. You constantly have to repeat yourself sometimes three and four times. You can't talk too loudly or else it hurts his ears. When the dog barks, it hurts his ears. The list goes on and on. Anyway, he needs to get it taken care of, but of course he hasn't done anything about it.
So, a few months ago I had a string of court appearances that I had to attend and my mom and dad came to all of them with me. My dad wants to know what everyone is saying, but he's having a really hard time hearing. So, he'd be like "what did he say?" and "what are they talking about?" and he doesn't know how to whisper at all and I really didn't want us to get into trouble, so I pulled out some paper and started writing the interesting stuff down for him. It was a good way to pass the time anyway. This worked well for the City of Las Vegas court house, but when we went to City of North Las Vegas it was a different story.
First off, they only let the defendants in the court room at first and they make everyone else wait out in the lobby. Then, when they let the families/friends/visitors etc. come in, they make them sit in the back, so I didn't get to sit with my parents. They called my name pretty fast and when I was standing up about to see the judge, I heard the bailiff telling people in the court to quiet down. He warned them once again and whoever was talking still didn't heed his warning. So, he walks to the back, I turn around to see what all the commotion is about and there he is kicking MY DAD out of the court room!!!! Apparently my dad AS USUAL couldn't hear what was going on so he was trying to get information from my mom, she was trying to hear and decipher for him and neither of them noticed the big security guard telling them to quiet down. So, my dad got kicked out. How freakin embarrassing!!!! I don't think anyone even knew he was with me, but I was hoping that drama might shake him enough to go to the doctor, but of course, it didn't. UGH!
So, that's my story for the day. goodnight!

That's pretty funny. You should have run and grabbed him and yelled "Don't throw my daddy out!!!!" ;-)

That is a really good story. I bet he doesn't go to the doctor because he doesn't ever expect to be back in the courtroom so why bother.

Carmen, he really should get his hearing checked and get hearing aids, if appropriate. Like most guys, I just did not want to do it for a number of reasons. My hearing had been getting worse for several years due to heredity and probably loud music.
Anyway, I finally went about a year ago after reading some stuff Drizz wrote about hearing aids. It was a great decision and the aids (I wear two) haven't been nearly as much a bother as I thought they'd be.
I know getting guys to go in for a hearing test is difficult, but I am sure glad I finally did.

So how embarrassing would it be if your dad started reading your blog?
