Last night was my first official night of work. I called at 9:30 a.m. and they put me on the schedule for 3:30 p.m. We do political research which is really just a nice way of saying that we call people and get them to take surveys over the phone about the upcoming elections. The deal is that you have to complete an average of like one an hour and and yesterday we were doing Virginia. It's a 29 minute survey. Good lord. I had my work cut out for me. I figured I'd be going home within the first hour or two because I just never thought I was cut out for this type of work. However, I killed it!!!!! I ended up completing either 11 or 12 surveys and I got to work until they closed at 11:30 p.m. Obviously we weren't calling Virginia that whole time. We closed with Hawaii and that survey was a lot smaller and quicker. I think they started with about 200 people and they cut the floor down to about 35 and they actually kept me!! It was pretty awesome. So, although this certainly isn't my dream job, I'm feeling a lot better about it and I'm just going to work really hard while I'm there and make the most of it until I find something better. Then, there was this guy that coming over and giving me candy and drinks and like, in the evening he gave me a cheeseburger and a coke from McDonalds and I didn't even know his name or why he was being so nice. But, he also let me borrow his fancy headphones and they were much easier for me to work with. I really appreciated it. Finally, on break, I walked outside and he told me that he's seen me at Choices (the place I take my drug court classes, UA's and where I go for counseling), so it all started making sense. He's in drug court too. I never noticed him over there but he rememembered me I guess. Anyway, it was a good day and I plan on working again tonight too. I'm actually going to be able to fill up my own tank with gas at this rate - yay!

I'm trying to forget my year in a call center after first moving to Vegas, but keep it up! Keep an eye out for something better.
