Long Day
Today was super crazy at the Mental Health place. I got there at 6:20 am and they don't open til 8 am but I wanted to be the first one there so that I could get seen. They opened the doors at 8 a.m. and I was there until 2 p.m. when I finally got to see a doctor. Brutal!!!!!!! The reason I had to wait so long is because they have tons of people with appointments and they get to see the doctor first. After that, they take anyone who was recently discharged from a hospital because they obviously have more serious mental issues and they take priority. They also close for lunch for an hour. So, I was pretty stressed out because I told my boss I would be a few hours late and I ended up being there all day.
Of course I was communicating with him all day and he told me not to worry about it. And, now that I saw the doctor I got an appt. for next time so I won't have to do the whole "walk-in" thing anymore. It was a long day and not the way I wanted to start my new job.
The entertainment factor was up there with all the drama going on in the office. One woman got in a fight with the security guard because he told her not to sit on the table. Another lady got into a big argument with another patient over some nonsense. The toilet clogged while we there and there was no bathroom. Some guy got into a big fight with the ladies working there because of the bathroom situation. He apparently had an enlarged prostate and wanted to use the bathroom in the back and they didn't want to let him. And, I met a really nice girl that was around my age and waited there the whole day with me. I got her number. You can never have too many friends :) I don't have enough actually.
There is this really cool girl I met the other day at a meeting and she's from Baltimore. We are both over the moon about the Ravens win and we are probably the only 2 Baltimore fans in all of Las Vegas. So, I got her number and she just texted me about a Raven's diner at the Red Rock Casino where all of the Ravens fans hangout. Who knew??????? I didn't think there were any Ravens fans out here. I'm so excited to have someone where to go now on Superbowl Sunday and I'll be with my friend in recovery so we can help each other stay sober. Yay!!
Last but not least...... tonight is my very last class at Choices. I have to take a UA tonight and probably only one more before the week is over and then Friday is my Drug Court graduation and I'm psyched!!!

Carmen,
You are doing great. It is wonderful to see you overcome daily challenges that, in the past, would have been overwhelming.
You are setting the example for others to follow and you are setting bar high!
Keep up the good work!
