I'm back baby!!!

Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I'm finally back online. I have spent at least an hour almost everyday on the phone with Cox Communications trying to figure out what was wrong with my computer. It has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life.

Finally, Cox tells me that there is absolutely nothing else that they can do for me. They were positive that it was either Mcafee blocking me from accessing the internet or that I had a bad system card in my computer.

I called Dell and spent $99.00 for their assistance. Which, by the way is such a freakin ripoff. I should get free technical support since I bought the damn computer. But, I caved in and spent $99.00. I was on the phone with this lovely gentleman for about 2 hours while he went through every little tiny thing. We were one step away from completely restoring my factory settings which would have resulted in me losing all of my files when he decided to try something. He had me change my connection speed from 100 to 10 and all of a sudden I was connected to the internet. I was shocked and so was he. But, whatever - it worked and I'm back baby!

I have a lot of blog reading to do so that I can catch up.

I'll be back soon with an update!!

Update

Just a quick update for everyone. My computer will NOT connect to the internet. It was working fine until my roommate called and asked if she could borrow the modem to hook up to her computer. She was not able to connect and now all of a sudden I can't connect. I get an error that says something about the IP address. The account is not in my name so I have to wait for the owner of the house to come back from California so that I can get in touch with Cox Communications.

Anyway - in case you are wondering where this post is coming from - I stopped by Don's house and watched the last few minutes of the BIG GAME. Kat baby baby baby - I feel for you - I'm always the bubble girl - never the winner. I was rooting for you girl.

I hope to be back online very soon!!

Karma is a Bitch

I'm sorry - but this is too damn funny - especially because you guys know how I feel about Steve Wynn and how he's making the poker dealers share tips with management...

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Picasso's famed "Dream" painting turned into a nightmare for Las Vegas casino magnate Steve Wynn when he accidentally gave the multimillion dollar canvas an elbow.

Wynn had just finalized a $139 million sale to another collector of his painting, called "Le Reve" (The Dream), when he poked a finger-sized hole in the artwork while showing it to friends at his Las Vegas office a couple of weeks ago.

Director and screenwriter Nora Ephron, who witnessed and related the incident in her blog on the Huffington Post Web site (www.huffingtonpost.com), said Wynn had raised his hand to show the group something about Picasso's 1932 portrait of his mistress Marie-Therese Walter.

"At that moment, his elbow crashed backward right through the canvas. There was a terrible noise," Ephron wrote, noting that Wynn has retinitis pigmentosa, an eye dis

ease that damages peripheral vision.

"Smack in the middle ... was a black hole the size of a silver dollar. 'Oh s---,' he said. 'Look what I've done. Thank goodness it was me.'"

Wynn's office on Tuesday confirmed the story, an account of which also appeared in this week's The New Yorker. Both accounts said Wynn had decided to release the buyer from the sale agreement and to repair and keep the painting himself.

Wynn, a millionaire casino developer and art collector, developed The Mirage and Bellagio resorts in Las Vegas in the 1990s, which spearheaded a profusion of luxury hotels and casinos on the once-seedy Las Vegas Strip.

5 Reasons Why...

I must admit that I'm a tad bit annoyed. I got only one comment today and it was from akinstoo (whoever the fuck he is) and the only thing he had to say is that he knows of ways I can make extra money. Um - yeah so do I - but I don't feel like going to jail this week - so whatever.

Top 5 Reasons I am in a GREAT mood tonight

5. I found an awesome restaurant/pub right next to my house that is open 24 hours and I can stop in after work to get a bite to eat thus allowing me to NEVER have to cook EVER in life.

4. I made tons of money at work tonight on a Tuesday night.

3. I am off for the next 2 days.

2. I found an AWESOME parking spot tonight and I don't have to park illegally and listen for the tow truck all night long.

and the number 1 reason I am in a good mood tonight...

1. I have a dentist appt. in the morning. Normally that would suck - but to me it's a huge priviledge to finally have health insurance again. It's been so long since I've had insurance and I'm going to take full advantage of this time in my life.

I hate dentists!

Tonight was SO bad at work. You rarely ever hear me say that do you?? I'm serious though! Tonight sucked ass big-time. I came in and first off we had 8 servers on the floor on a Monday night. What the hell? Last night we had 6 and tonight we have 8? WHY?? I have no idea. Anyway 8 servers means smaller sections. Whatever.

So, there's a dental convention in the casino and there's a couple thousand dentists wandering around free for dinner. I'm thinking "GREAT - a dental convention sounds like big money to me" . I figured these would be the kind of guys that enjoyed good food and good margaritas and they would know how to tip. Oh my god was I WRONG!! These were the cheapest bastards that I've ever waited on. Table after table after table of people NOT drinking alcohol and sharing appetizers. HELLO???? Go sit in the bar if you want to eat appetizers. Stop waisting good tables in the dining room. Not to mention that I didn't get 20 percent on one check. NOT ONE CHECK all night. I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there tonight because I was so frustrated.

So, I'm driving home and I remember that it's Monday night and my roommate and I have a deal. We only have a driveway that fits one car so we take turns from week to week parking in the driveway. Her week starts tonight. The thing is that there is guest parking - but it's always full at midnight when I get home. If you park in the street you could get towed. I was so annoyed driving around the neighborhood in circles trying to find a spot (I never did). So, I parked in the street underneath my window so that I could hear if my car was getting towed and I go up to my house and there's a blue truck in the driveway. This chick has a different car every other day, so I just figured it was her boyfriend's truck or something. I walk up closer to the door and there's like 5 pair of shoes in front of the door. It was so totally redneck. I'm like "what the hell is this girl doing with all these shoes in front of the door - and why is there a new chair on the porch?" Okay, I live with white trash now. I stick my key in the door and it doesn't work. What the..... OH SHIT! This isn't the right house. OH my god!!! All of these freakin townhouses look the same - I was at the wrong house. I ran over to my car real quick and parked in front of the RIGHT house this time and went in.

WOW - what a great night I'm having and I SWEAR I am totally sober.

Well, I'd like to leave this on a positive note - so I will say that I'm totally psyched about the Blogger Convention that April is planning for December 9th. I hope everyone can make it and I'll probably even take off work so that I can actually hang out with everyone this time. Check out April's Blog for all of the details.

Sunday night stuff

Okay - I'm not even going to say one word about the Ravens this weekend. UGH!!!!!

I had a great weekend at work. Rockstar (the drink) was sponsoring a motorcross event in the Grand Garden Arena and they were there for the whole weekend. Apparently they brought us a lot of business because I was pretty slammed Fri, Sat and Sun. I love that. Next weekend is going to take the cake though. Jimmy Buffett is playing and apparently it's our busiest night of the year. I can't wait!

I wish I had this job full-time cause it's the best. Unfortunately, I'm on-call still and I don't think I'll ever be full-time unless someone leaves. Next week, they only gave me 2 shifts. I was lucky though and I was able to pick up two nights from other people. As long as people keep giving up shifts - I'm good. But, just to be safe I gotta get another job I think.

Today I got sucked into a reality show that I've never seen before. It's called Top Chef and it's on the Bravo Channel. I loved it. I love all reality T.V. It's funny that I would like a show about chef's because I can't stand cooking. But at any rate when they got down to the last 3 contestants - they moved the show to the Las Vegas. woo hoo! Can anyone guess where in Las Vegas they stayed? That's right - THE MGM GRAND of course. It was really cool to watch. They showed my restaurant on T.V., they showed the Sky lofts where they stayed, they showed the head chef who is always in my restaurant - you get the point. I enjoyed watching it. They had a marathon and I laid in bed all day and watched it until I had to go to work.

Speaking of reality T.V..... This week was the first week of MTV's Real World Challenge. It's actually called the Duel this season and it's on Thursday nights now. One girl already punched another girl in the face on the first night. I think the drama is going to be at an all-time high this time around. God I watch the cheesiest shows.

Plans for this week:

A) Go see the Departed on my day off
B) Make an appt. and get my lazy butt to the dentist
C) Train for my new part-time job
D) Get to the Red Rock Casino and cash in a scratchoff that they have for me (I can't wait to do that - you have no idea about my obsession with scratchoffs)
E) Get a kitten (yes - it's still on the list)
F) Get oil changed (1st time ever in my new car)

Anyway - very exciting stuff on this list as you can see. Hope your week is exciting as mine.

Go Ravens!!

Okay - here's to the Ravens....

We are playing Carolina today and I'd really love to see a win.

So - this is my Sunday good luck tribute to the Baltimore Ravens...

GOOOOOOOOO RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firing Squad??

Well, it's been a really nice week with all the days off. I'm going to take full advantage of tonight (thursday night) off since it's my last night and I'm going back tomorrow for what promises to be a pretty busy weekend I'm sure. Last night I went to my restaurant for dinner. Corralejo was sponsoring a party in our private dining room and since I was off, I was able to attend. The food was great and the company was pretty cool too. I meant to take pictures - but I forgot.

I got a lot accomplished during these days off - but I still didn't go to the animal shelter and get a kitten. Everytime I got ready to do it I would realize that it's rush hour or whatever and since the place is all the way across town - I really didn't feel like sitting in that much traffic. I'm such a procrastinator. It's not really a big deal cause there will always be kittens there I'm sure.

Tonight since I'm staying in and taking it EASY - I'm actually thinking about playing some online poker. Wow - what a concept. Poker!! I haven't played in ages. I did walk over to the poker room last night after dinner to see a friend. The place was packed! I was really tempted to sit down and play - but there was a list and I was supposed to meet friends at Tabu. My friend Mary Ann was dealing so I stood by the table and watched a few hands. There was a REALLY drunk guy with tons of chips in front of him - but he refused to stack them. The chips were all over the table and I told him that he should stack them - but he was an asshole and he didn't want to. So, a few minutes later a little scuttle broke out. Mary Ann called the floor over to the table and the drunk guy was accusing someone of taking chips or something like that. Of course I had to open my mouth and tell him that's what he gets for not stacking his chips. He like blew up!! He started talking all this shit to me and I just walked away. A few minutes later I walked back over and he was gone. They told me he lost all of his chips in the very next hand. Gotta love it!

Death-row prisoner gets pregnant in solitary
Thu Oct 12, 2006 8:22am ET

HANOI (Reuters) - A death-row inmate held in solitary confinement in Vietnam for almost a year is pregnant and is seeking a pardon to give birth, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper quoted a police doctor as saying tests in September confirmed that convicted heroin trafficker Nguyen Thi Oanh, 39, was then 11 weeks pregnant.

The report said it was the first time that a death-row prisoner had become pregnant in Vietnam and that police were investigating how it had happened.

Oanh's husband was serving a jail sentence at another prison in another province, the newspaper said.

Oanh was due to face a firing squad this year after losing her appeal against the death sentence she received last year for possession of a billion dong ($63,000) worth of heroin.

Trafficking more than 600 grams of heroin in Vietnam is punishable by death or life imprisonment.

I don't know what's more shocking about this story...

A) You can get the death penalty for trafficking drugs

B) They still use a firing squad to kill people on death row

C) A woman got pregnant while i'm solitary confinement (something tells me that somebody will be losing their job soon)

Possible Move?

This is a picture of Salem (my roommate's kitten). She's the best. I really miss having a kitten of my own so I think I'm going to the animal shelter tomorrow or Thursday.

I had off Sunday and Monday - that was pretty cool. I worked tonight and now I have another two days off. Not so cool. That's the thing about working for the MGM. You have to start off at the bottom or on-call as they like to call it. So, I never know from week to week how many days I'll be working and I have rarely ever get two days in a row off. This week they only gave me three shifts and that sucks!! I did manage to pick up one more day though.

I have a whole list of things to do tomorrow - it's fun stuff though. I like getting my nails done and I love pedicures. I also enjoy going to the car wash cause I love it when my car is nice and clean. Most of all I love going to the mall. I'm gonna try to stay away from there though.

Lately I've been thinking about transferring from the restaurant over to the poker room to deal. The manager of the poker room told me to come see him when I got through probation and I'm definitely done with probation now. I also had lunch today with one of the poker dealers and he was telling me how much they make. Wow! I mean, on a very slow night a few days ago he made $200.00. I make that at my restaurant too but it's mostly on busy nights and I have to work pretty hard for that money. Dealing is something I could do that wouldn't put so much wear and tear on my body. I'm really thinking hard about this move. My friend told me that they have a really cheap class over at the community college that you can take to learn how to deal. Ummmmm - does anybody else think it's weird that they offer gaming classes at college? I guess anything's possible in Vegas.

Well - I have to get up early in the morning so I think I'm gonna head to bed.

My weekend

Well, I thought this weekend at work wasn't going to be very lucrative - but I was wrong!! Friday night we were really slow, but I guess the managers like me or maybe they feel sorry for me now that I have to pay bills. ha ha Anyway, they hooked me up with a few parties, so I was happy. I had to stay late as hell on Friday night because I got a party of 20 at like 10 p.m. We close at 10. So, of course I was the last one out. This party was funny though because they were really cheap. 5 people didn't eat and about 10 people shared appetizers. It wasn't even worth staying open late for them. The best part was when I dropped the bill at the end. Even though they didn't eat much, they did get a round of drinks, so the bill was a little over 400 dollars (our menu is pretty pricey). They pulled out pens and paper and a copy of the menu and sat there doing calculations for about 25 minutes. It was so bad that I had to stand right next to the table and watch them to make sure they didn't leave without paying. They were some of the most low-class people that I've ever had to wait on. Thank god for automatic gratuity. I am quite certain they would have stiffed me on the tip if they could have.

Saturday night was much better. Andre Agassi had his Charity Event last night in the Grand Garden Arena and the tickets were VERY pricey. Apparently food was included only if you bought a table for like $10,000 or something like that - so we were very busy. It was a pretty good night.

I've been a little relaxed on posting pictures lately. I finally uploaded the shots I took from the Tao Anniversary Party last week. Janet Jackson was hosting the event and it was by invitation only. Believe me - I'm not that important - a friend of mine had an invitation, so that's how I was able to go.

Here's some random shots of people from the party that I know...

I have no idea what's going on with this picture of me - but it looks kinda cool...

I also went to the Palms pool to hangout recently. We had a really nice cabana with a t.v. and a refrigerator etc. It was a lot of fun. I saw Dennis Rodman while I was there. He had a cabana right across from us. Here's some shots...

I'm still a little undecided as to whether I like the Red Rock pool or the Palms pool better. They are both pretty beautiful. You definitely see more celebs at the Palms though.

I'm actually off today and tomorrow - yay!!!! I'm feeling pretty happy about that. A friend of mine is opening a new restaurant and I'm gonna be working there part-time for a while. I think it's going to open in like a week so I gotta get myself ready. I'll be working 12 at night to 6 in the morning 3 nights a week. I have to work that shift because I don't want this job to interfere with my other job. Ahhhhh - 2 jobs - so much fun. I went from not working at all for like 6 months to having 2 jobs now.

Hope you guys had a good weekend :)

Stuff...

So, I'm driving to work the other day and I see a homeless and very gray, hairy man walking down the street at an intersection where I don't usually see very many bums. I'm watching him as he walks towards the car and he's stumbling into the cones along the way. I'm thinking to myself "this guy isn't hungry, he wants some more alcohol or drugs". As he gets closer to the car I finally have an opportunity to read his sign and it says "I'm not gonna lie - I need beer". I never laughed so hard. I couldn't roll my window down fast enough to give this guy some loot. I really respect a guy that can be honest about his intentions. That pretty much goes for all guys (not just the bums).

That very same night at work the funniest thing happened. First off, I thought I was cocktailing in the bar, but I got my days mixed up and I wasn't cocktailing - I was serving. I wore the cocktail server outfit though so, I wasn't exactly dressed to serve normal tables - but whatever. I guess I was giving off some great mojo that night because 3 different random guys asked me out. That's so odd! I rarely ever get asked out when I'm working. The first guy was such a loser. He's sitting in the bar by himself and he looked like a thugged out ghetto mexican from the projects. I'm leaning against the desk/computer because we were pretty slow and he's like "hey - what time do you get off" and I'm like " I dunno - I guess around 10 or 11 - and he's like "should I come by and pick you up?" I'm like "uhhhh - no". What the hell kind of pickup line was that? PLEEEEASE!!!! I walked right away! About an hour later I take care of this table of 5 guys and they were all very cool and pretty courteous. They all leave and there is one lone guy sitting behind. I'm thinking "why the hell don't you get off my table so the busser can re-set it so I can make some more money?". I look over at him and he kind of motions for me to come over - so I walk over thinking he needs some more water or something and he's all nervous and fumbling. He finally gets up enough nerve to ask me out to lunch for the next day. He was really sweet, so I let him off easy. I told him that I have a boyfriend but that I was really flattered that he asked me out. So, he leaves. A few minutes later this very ROWDY group of guys stroll into the bar to watch the game. They are hooting and hollering and trying to get my attention every two minutes. I told them more than a few times that the bar isn't my section, so I couldn't wait on them. One very drunk guy came over and started to ask me out, but luckily one of my bartenders kicked them out for being too loud, so they had to leave. It's really funny how sometimes when it rains it really pours!

Anyway, I have some great pictures to post from the Tao - One Year Anniversary Party the other night. I'll try to get them up tomorrow.

Moving

I wish I had more time to blog today, but as usual I am strapped for time. I moved into the new place and I'm almost finished. I still have to pick up some clothes and then rearrange all of my junk so that it looks nice in the new house. I have a roommate and she's moving in at the exact same time so the whole house is a mess right now. Luckily I work at night when she's home unpacking and she works in the day when I'm trying to rest. I think it'll work out pretty nicely.

There is a really cute little black kitten laying under my bed right now staring up at my watching me type. His name is Salem and he's my roommate's kitten. He's adorable but he just scratched me when I tried to pick him up. I think he's scared. I have to run to Target and return a splitter. I'm such a dumbass. I bought a splitter that has an A and B output. So, if I slide the switch to A, then I can watch T.V. and I if I slide the switch to B, I can use the computer. I can't do both at the same time. I need to return that splitter and get a normal one - today!! So, back to the kitten... I wanted to get her out of my room so that I could close the door and go to Target, but she doesn't want me to pick her up, so I guess I'm gonna have to leave her in here and hope she doesn't get into anything.

I think I'm gonna go to Petco this Saturday and adopt a kitten so that Salem has someone to play with. And then I'll have 2 kittens to play with!!

Work was good this weekend. A lot of my tables were cheap on Saturday night, but I still managed to make some money so that's all that really matters. I have to work tonight and then I'm off Wed and Thurs. Hopefully I can get this place looking fabulous on my days off and then I can write a longer blog entry too.
