Hump Day!

It's HUMP DAY!! Actually, Wednesday is almost over and soon it's going to be Thursday already. I can't believe how fast this week is flying by.

I am sooooo looking forward to the weekend.

I was salivating to go gambling tonight but I'm trying to stay away from the slots (even though video keno, lucky lemmings and mr. cashman all miss me dearly). So, I came home and got online and I'm playing two SNG's on Full Tilt. I don't mind playing with the money online since I can't cash it out anyway. UGH!!! Don't get me started on that subject again.

Anyway, I'm still involved in both games, so I don't know if I'm going to cash or not. I wish I could have played in the mookie with everyone. Unfortunately I have a meeting that I go to every Wednesday night during the same time, so I rarely ever get to play. I'm going to make an exception on 2/7 for the hammer event though.

Congratulations to my buddy Dan for winning!!!! Yay! I should have logged on to watch heads up. I didn't realize it was going on this late.

Update on my SNG's - I lost them both. God I suck tonight. Good thing I didn't go to the casino.

This weekend I'm heading to the Venetian with all of the boyz. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Just like Don said - should be a lot of drunk and donkeyish tourists sitting at the poker tables. I hope to take full advantage and SCORE!

Back to Work

Amazingly enough, work didn't suck today. That's huge! I hated it last week and today - not so much. I guess I'm getting used to the people and the work and the files and I'm actually starting to understand what I'm reading etc. I always forget how hard it is to start a new job and that it takes time to adjust. I'm fitting in pretty well though and it could definitely be a lot worse.

Jenna and I had fun Saturday night!! P.F. Changs has great food - especially for a chain. I usually don't care for chains. I ordered too much food so that I could bring leftovers home. YUMM!



That's Jenna. The funny thing about Jenna is that I met her when I moved out here to Vegas. However - we went to the same high school back home in Pasadena, MD. We are one year apart and we didn't know each other in school. I told a friend that I was moving out here and she gave me Jenna's number and I contacted her and the rest was Sin City history!!!!




The WPBT was fun last night. I got 25th place. That means I got points, but didn't come in the money. Whatever. I won a token for the event anyway. I was so happy when we got our tables because my boy and my girl were at the same table as I was. We all sucked ass - but at least we had fun doing it.

Congratulations to Raveen for taking it down. I was nice enough to donate my stack to him when he knocked me out. That's just me - always thinking of others.




I saw the movie Crank last night on DVD. Hmmmmm - what do I say about that movie? There was no lack of excitement - that's for sure. It was different. Kinda cool. A bit crazy!! I dunno. I wouldn't pay a lot of money in the theater to see it - but since we have Netflix it was worth watching - especially on a Sunday night when my only other choice was Intervention on A&E.

Neteller Dilemma

YAY! I'm excited to play in the WPBT tomorrow and I hope to see you all there.


The good thing about working Monday - Friday is that I have Saturday and Sunday off like the rest of the world.


I'm not loving the job though. It's boring. I'm not a fan of working regular hours anymore. I thought I'd like getting off early and having my nights free. As it turns out, I'm actually spending a lot more time at work for a lot less money. Traffic SUCKS when you have to be at work at 8 a.m. and it's even worse at 5 p.m. when I get off and head home. They make us take an hour for lunch. I never even got breaks when I was waiting tables. I miss that. Time went by a lot faster and who needs lunch anyway?? I might be looking to wait tables again and I never thought I'd say that.

On the positive side - at least I have a job. The people I work with are pretty nice. The office is pretty. The computers are fast. I have access to the internet and there isn't anyone standing over my shoulder and micro-managing. They let me know what they expect and I do it. Good stuff.

So - last night I went out to dinner with a bunch of friends to a place called Shucks. They have clams (hence the name Shucks), oysters, crabs, shrimp, and all kinds of other stuff and it was very reasonable. The people I went with actually go there every Friday night, so I'm sure I'll be heading there again next week.

Tonight I am meeting my friend Jenna for dinner over at P.F. Changs in Henderson. It's in the same plaza as the Green Valley Ranch Casino and they also have some nice stores over there. We are doing some shopping after dinner to work off all the food.

Okay - so let me ask a question...

Has anyone else tried to get there money out of net teller? I took mine out over a week ago and it still hasn't shown up in my banking account. What's the deal? How long do I have to wait or am I just never going to get it??

Neteller update: I logged on today and my account has been closed even though I still have money left in the account. I called the customer service number and was informed that ALL MONIES are being held in some sort of trust account for the time being. Nobody can withdraw their money at this time. Would have been nice of them to maybe send me an e-mail or something considering I withdrew my money 2 freakin weeks ago.

This Blows! Why do I have the feeling that I will never ever see my money again??

Job Offer

Well, I got a job offer late Sunday night. I spoke with the President of the company yesterday and he wants me to start tomorrow. So, why am I not thrilled? I'm not sure.

The biggest problem I am having with this office is that I'm not sure if my personality is going to mesh well. When I was waiting for the interview, I sat in the lobby for about 20 minutes and never heard a peep from anyone. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The gentleman that interviewed me was VERY adamant about the fact that I need to work well on my own, be a problem solver, not ask a lot of questions and figure out how to do things on my own. Um - that seems so weird to me because most companies usually want you to succeed and want you to ask questions. Also, I'm pretty outgoing and I like to talk a lot. I might be too much for this company to handle. hehehe

Anyway, I'm going on another interview today. I have a great feeling about it. I've already spoken to the office mananger over e-mail and on the phone. They are offering me the same salary as the other company and the benefits are better and they are located about 5 minutes from my house.

So, I'll just see how it goes and then make some sort of decision tonight I guess.

My Girl put up an adorable picture of her baby the other day (little smokkee) and I was thinking how much her dog looks just like my dog. I'm sure they will become great friends when they all move out here to Vegas.

A ridiculous amount of almost 50 paparazzi hounded Lindsay Lohan at her AA meeting today in West Hollywood!!

Today I was checking out some local vegas blogs when I ran across this site...
SeatFillers.com. Basically, if you are a local living in the Las Vegas area you can sign up for this service. If a show isn't sold out, they will send out a bunch of e-mails giving away free tickets to the show and the first people to respond to the messages get the free tickets. COOL!! As if I wasn't on the computer enough. I'm gonna be sitting here all day watching the screen waiting for something free. hehe

Of course (like anything these days) you can upgrade to a Silver package for the low low price of $19.95 per year. This entitles you to e-mails and text messages regarding the free tickets.

And, for the people who obviously don't need the free tickets, you can upgrade to a Gold package. The cost is $69.95 per year. The Gold packaged entitles you to e-mails and text messages - PLUS they send you the messages 60 minutes prior to the rest of us low class Bronze and Silver members. That way you get FIRST DIBS. It's Friday!!

Well, I went to Cox Communications this morning and took the amazing Wunderlic Test. It wasn't that bad. I haven't received my test results yet though so I guess I won't count my chickens this early.

I also had to take a 200 question personality test. It was true/false and you had to say wether you agreed or disagreed with the statement. Some of them were so obvious that of course you would lie even if it was a true statement.

For instance...

"I don't get along well with others"

Who the hell is going to answer true to that question? If you don't get along well with others that means that you will fight with your co-workers, you won't take directions well from your boss and you aren't a team player.

Another one...

"I think it's acceptable to use outbursts of emotion to get my way"

Yeah - I'm really going to admit that I cry and stomp my feet if I don't get my way. PLEASE!!!!

I hope to get the results back on Monday. If I pass, then step two is an interview. Step 3 is a background and drug screen and if I pass everything I have to go through 6 weeks of training. It's a good company though and lots of potential for growth.

I also had two interviews. The first one went really well and I have a feeling that I might get the job. The 2nd interview was just okay. Nothing spectacular and plus they aren't paying enough anyway.

City Center

I had another job interview today. It was with a Health and Wellness Salon. The position is nothing special - just a receptionist position and the pay is minimal as well. They aren't even looking for full-time right now. It's a part-time position. At first I didn't think I was very interested, however, after further consideration I decided it may be a good job for now. I'd make some pocket money, get a discount on all salon services and still have plenty of time to look for a "real" job and go on interviews. She needs someone immediately and she is making a decision today. I'm supposed to call her sometime tomorrow to find out if I got the job. I'm not really worried about it either way.

Project City Center is the newest addition to the strip and it's going to be in place of the Boardwalk hotel and casino which was torn down a few months ago. Of course it's owned by MGM/Mirage Corporation. They pretty much own that whole end of the strip.

Tomorrow I have 2 job interviews and a Wunderlic test to take. I'm going to be a pro soon. I might be able to give classes on interviewing. Actually, maybe not because if my interviewing skills were THAT great then maybe I would have a job by now.

I got the 2nd season of Desperate Houswives on DVD the other day via Netflix. YAY! I love the housewives - the show cracks me up. I've been watching a few episodes everyday.

I lost four games in a row yesterday. I was playing 6 handed SNG's which are usually very good to me but that wasn't the case yesterday. I sucked. I think it's time to load up FT and give it another try. BYE!

Mmmmm - Laughing Gas is Good....

So, the dentist appointment was not fun today. Are they ever fun? Well, one time I managed to get some laughing gas - that was pretty damn cool. Unfortunately though, in my experience I've found that most dentists are really NOT generous with medication and it's hard as hell to get any good meds from them. Greedy bastards.

Anyway, I digress. The dentist sucked and let's move on.

I had another interview this afternoon. It went well, but I don't think I want the job. First off, it's a tiny office and it's dirty (i'm not a fan of dirt and I like pretty offices that are clean and have nice office equipment). Second, there is only one girl that works there and she's pretty much in the office by herself all day long (that's so boring and plus who am I going to gossip with all day?). Third, she is BUSY as hell. I was there for over two hours because she was so busy and we kept getting interrupted and the interview started about 45 minutes late (annoying and not very professional). Normally being busy is a positive thing and I welcome the challenge - however, (and this brings me to my fourth point) the pay SUCKS. I don't think the pay is anywhere near high enough for all the work this girl has to do. Lastly, but one of the biggest reasons I don't want the job is because they do not offer any benefits. What the hell????? Are we living in the stone ages here? No health insurance of any kind?? What kind of company doesn't offer any benefits at all? That's total bullshit. I'm so NOT interested.

Tomorrow brings another day and another interview. It's a simple receptionist position and I don't think the pay is very high. I got an interview though and I figure that all of this interviewing practice is good.

Anyway, I hate to keep putting this girl on my blog - but what is her problem??

Wunderlic Anyone??

Today I had two job interviews. The first one was in the morning and it was fairly close. I wasn't nervous at all because it was just an interview with an employment agency. Those are piece of cake interviews because they really want to find you a job so that they can make money off of you. I probably wouldn't even have set up an interview with them but they tricked me and acted like a real employer on the phone and then of course I got home and realized otherwise. Oh well. The good thing about this agency is that they start your benefits immediately when you get hired. I hate being without health insurance so this is a good thing.

My second job interview was pretty close to the Red Rock Casino. Again this is on the west side of town and thus pretty close to my house. Good! I like that. The position I applied for was a personal assistant to an attorney. He owns a very upscale law firm that specializes in estate management etc. He is also a national speaker and travels about once a month all over the country. I would have to prepare his presentations, travel with him and basically assist him with whatever he needs. Could be fun. First I talked to the Office Manager for a while and then he came in and we chatted for over an hour. I think that's a good sign. I don't think he would have wasted that much time with me if he wasn't interested.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Tomorrow is part two of my dentist appointment. I'm having the temporary crowns taken off and the permanent ones are going on. GOD I hope it's not as painful as the last appointment was.

In the afternoon tomorrow I have another interview. This one is an Office Manager position with an IT Firm. I like the office manager positions because usually you are given more responsibility, the pay is higher and sometimes you can challenge yourself. I don't like receptionist positions because the pay is low and you just answer the phone usually. BORING! I've been there done that.

Does anyone have any experience with the Wunderlic Test??? I found out that I have to take one of these tests on Friday for Cox Communications. I'm trying to get a job with them and they won't even interview you if you don't score well on the Wunderlic Test.

I did some searching on the web and found some practice tests. The actual test is 50 questions and they give you 12 minutes to take it. I did a practice one online last night and they gave me 10 questions to do in 2 minutes. I finished all 10 questions and I got 8 out of 10 correct. I was in the "above average intelligence" category. They actually have a "moron" category and I'm glad I didn't score in that range.

Ravens Game Day!

I do believe it's the coldest day of the year today and guess what? We have NO HOT WATER in the house. I thought it was strange that the water never got hot this morning when I was washing my face - but I was hopeful. I thought for sure that our luck wasn't that bad that we'd lose hot water on the coldest day of the year. I was wrong. When I hopped in the shower a few minutes ago and the water still didn't ever got hot I decided to take a half assed sponge bath because that was all I could do. It's just tooooo freezing to wash my hair and all that crap. I basically had to stick one leg in and wash it. Then I stuck the other leg in and washed it. Then I did an arm etc. You get the picture I'm sure.

This is Donkeypuncher from yesterday at lunch.

We met over at the Orleans because Donkeypuncher was playing in the noon Omaha 8 tourney. He was pretty short stacked when I got there but he managed to hold his own for quite a while.

After the tourney we went over to the MGM and had a nice lunch at the Grand Wok. I do believe it was the only meal that either of us had yesterday.

We checked out the action over at the craps tables but of course since it was Friday afternoon they had jacked up all the prices. My bankroll only allows me to play $5 craps so that wasn't happening.

We headed over to the MGM Poker Room and got seats at the 1-2 NL table right next to each other and played for about 6 hours. MiamiDon came down to the poker room and slummed it up with us at the 1-2 tables too. I played my very TIGHT TIGHT game as usual yesterday and it really paid off for me. Even though I only play about 1 or 2 hands an hour - it never fails that when I have the nuts - I get paid off. I hit two sets and rivered broadway and got paid off every time. Good day for me :)

Poker Team

I found a new site (at least it's new to me) and it's called Pokerteam. I'm not sure if anyone else has ever checked it out - but I like it. Like most poker sites, it has the latest breaking news and recent articles of interest.

For people who just woke up after being in a coma for the last ten years, they have instructions about how to play poker (the fundamentals and the rules etc).

But - what I found most interesting was down at the bottom of the page. They have links to pages where they review the best online Blackjack sites and my personal favorite Keno. I try to stay away from online casinos - but I did enjoy reading the reviews and tips for playing. Always good stuff to know.

I got a phonecall yesterday about a job. I was all psyched and set up an interview for Tuesday. When I got home and checked out the company's website I realized that it was an employment agency calling. I hate that! I should have known something was up when they told me to bring two forms of I.D. to the interview. They don't usually ask for that kind of stuff until you actually get the job. Silly me. I just thought they were highly optimistic and liked my telephone voice :) I'll still go to the interview and fill out the paperwork and take the typing test etc. You never know. I once found a really great job through an employment agency.

Donkeypuncher made it out here late last night. He had some major flight delays, but he's here now. I'm meeting him over at the Orleans today. He's playing in the Omaha 8 Tournament and I'm taking in the sights. I've never actually been to the Orleans since I've lived here. I ate dinner there once when I was on vacation - but that was a long time ago!

Did hell freeze over?

Will wonders never cease?! I went to the gym today. I've been living in Vegas for about 10 months and I've only been to the gym 1 other time since I moved here. I was a die hard workout girl in South Florida. I don't know what happened when I moved here. I guess laziness kicked in and I was feeling just fine about that. Luckily I haven't gained any weight since I've been living here - but it's definitely time to go back. I'm not even working right now so what else do I have to do?!

I managed to do 40 minutes of cardio on my first day back. Tomorrow I hope to kick it up to 42 minutes. hehe I'm serious about that! No sense in killing myself right?

It sucks that I can't ever play in the mookie with you guys. I always have something to do at 7:30 on Wednesday nights and that's right smack dab in the middle of mookie time.

Good news though - Donkeypuncher is going to be out here tomorrow through the weekend. Woo hoo! I look forward to some quality time in the poker room - even if I'm just hanging out and rooting everyone on (finances are tight right now).

On the job front.... Nothing much. Still looking... Sending out resumes... Haven't received one response yet. UGH! It's only been like two days though so I won't cry too much yet.

The boring shepherd...

Well, I went to see The Good Shepherd today at the Red Rock movie theater and I must say that I was definitely not impressed. The movie was so long and slow moving and just downright boring. It's like 3 hours long too!

After the movie we headed on over to the buffet. I had a 2 for 1 lunch buffet coupon and it was delicious actually. If I would have had to pay full price it wouldn't have been worth the money because I only ate one plate of food and one plate of dessert. But, since it was 2 for 1 it was definitely worth the money. I'm not usually a buffet kind of girl, but it hit the spot today - probably because I was starving after sitting through a lame 3 hour movie!

Yesterday was a blast!!!! I totally did the tourist thing with my friend Jennifer and we had a great time.




First off - we parked over at New York New York and hopped on the roller coaster. I've been wanting to ride that coaster ever since I first visited Vegas. I've been living here almost a year now and I'm finally just now getting on it for the first time - it was FUN! I already did all of the rides at the Stratosphere and the Sahara coaster looks gay as hell. So, I guess the only thing I have left is Circus Circus - ha ha - NOT!!!

After the coaster Jennifer and I had lunch at the Chin Chin Chinese Cafe. It was GREAT. I was really impressed with the food and I'm very picky about my asian food.



It was such a nice day outside that we decided to walk to Caesar's Palace from New York New York. It wasn't a bad walk at all. It was gorgeous outside and I can definitely use the exercise. I have never actually walked much on the strip. I guess because I live here it's just easier to drive everywhere. I was a little surprised about how many people were handing out strip club flyers. I mean - every two feet there was someone else handing out a picture of a naked chic. Very classy!

It was cool being over at Caesar's. I haven't been there since the bloggers were in town and I'm happy to say I actually remember everything from yesterday. I can't say that about the blogger thing. There was a lot of action going on in the sports book for the Ohio vs. Florida game and there was a lot of action in the poker room. I didn't hangout in the casino long though because we were actually there for a shopping excursion in the Forum Shops. Nothing like a nice trip to the Caesar's Forum Shops to remind you just how poor you really are.

Light Display in Hamden

Back when I was in Baltimore for the holidays visiting my family my mom and my dad and my uncle and I were driving up to my aunt's house for her yearly Christmas Eve party and we were running a little early. They decided to take the scenic route through the city so that they could show me a neighborhood called Hampden. This particular block is named 34th Street and it's nicknamed "Miracle on 34th Street" because the neighbors put on a HUGE Christmas display every year. It's only about 10 row homes (otherwise known as townhouses) on either side of the street and to get the best view you have to park your car and walk up and down the street.

Not only do these people use the most lights I've ever seen in my life - but they also put up very elaborate porch and yard displays. They even decorate the telephone wires above the houses. It's truly the most insane thing I've ever seen in my life. They even have vendors standing outside in the cold selling hot chocolate, t-shirts, cotton candy, flashlights etc. It's like a freakin 3-ring circus. If you drive down the street you are going to be spending a good hour in bumper to bumper traffic and dodging pedestrians. Some of the neighbors even let you inside the house to look at their displays.

I've never seen anything like it in my life. If you are ever in Baltimore for the holidays you have to check it out.

Everything in this display was moving and set to music....



My aunt had an awesome spread at her party (like usual). I chowed down all night and pretty much sat in one place and talked to everyone coming in and out of the kitchen.
