Well peeps - today is April 4th. Today is 2 YEARS that I've had this blog!!!!!!!!!!
Yay me!
I wanted to do something really fancy in honor of my big anniversary. I wanted to post lots of pictures, tell lots of cute stories, send care packages to all of my readers to thank you guys immensely fron the bottom of my heart for sticking around to read my trivial complaints, my stories of woe from the past and present, my lame ass dating details etc.
I thought about changing the layout of this blog and using a new template, which I still might do - but that's definitely a weekend project. Especially since I have lots of ads and links to copy over.
So, I thought about it all week and what ended up happening was that I had to work overtime yesterday. I was so slammed at work, that I was here for like 11 hours yesterday and then I had to come in an hour early today. I was like "FUCK!!!!" Of all nights to have to work over time, but here's the thing....
2 years ago I had no job.
2 years ago I had just moved to Las Vegas with Don, we didn't know anyone, I had no friends and he was doing very well financially so I didn't have to work.
2 years ago I was bored out of my mind.
2 years ago I started this blog because I liked poker and Don said "hey - I found these cool poker blogs, people write about poker, and you like to play poker, you should start a blog". I was like "um, what the hell is a blog, what can I really write about poker, who the fuck would read my complaints about how much I suck at poker anyway and why waste the time?"
But, I was intrigued.
So, I think he gave me like a Pauly link to start off with. I remember my excitement when I found Katitude's blog. She was a chick playing poker, she seemed hella cool and she wrote back to me when I left her comments. She was nice. I kind of loooked up to her. I wanted to know how to get a blog like hers that people read.
And then I played in my first blogger tourney - the mookie. I was so excited. I saw some familiar names because now I was reading blogs on a daily basis. People like Mookie, Katitude, Jules, Waffles, Pauly, Iggy and Grubby - they were like celebrities to me!
And then they sent me an invite to the girly chat! Holla! I was in!!!!!!! It was so fun. I hooked up a microphone and I heard Waffles' girly voice for the first time and I looked at Don like "is that how he really talks? are you kidding me? He sounds like a girl!!!!!"
But he talked lots of shit and I loved that.
He quickly became one of my best friends.
And then the bloggers came to town. And we all hung out and lost of tomfoolery was had. And I stayed sober that first year and it was good times and I remember everything and I took lots of pictures and I was in love with the whole blogger/poker thing.
And then, I started drinking again.
And then the drugs came again.
And then I moved out.
But I still kept the blog somehow. I'd get drunk late at night and sit in my place and play online in a daze and not really remember much the next day. I'd do blog posts in a blackout and not even know how they got there.
And then I lost my job at the MGM.
And then things got really bad.
And then the bloggers came to town again. It was the Winter WPBT and I was a wreck. There are pictures to prove it.
But then, things got better again. And you guys stuck around. You still read my blog, you gave me encouragement, you held my hand while I walked through my demons and you still do! And I love you guys! And I love this blog.
And Craig recruited me to write during the World Series of Poker for Pokerworks.com and it was the most coolest experience ever. And Linda kept me on and I got to follow a dream that I never even knew I had.
And then I got to do Pool Reviews for Pauly at Lasvegasvegas.com - my favorite gig ever. What a treat to write about something other than poker for a few months.
This blog is the one thing that has remained consistent in my life. I've started lots of projects, I've failed at lots of things, I've given on up on things that I've started, but I hope to never give up on this blog. It keeps me sane. I look forward to the comments and feedback you guys give and I love to read your blogs.
And yes, I've branched out. There is a whole slew of non-poker related blogs that I read on a daily basis and you guys rock too. Hi Cynical Bastard - what's up RockDog - and Diva is from my hometown - B'More!!
The more the merrier right?
So, Happy 2 Years to Me and here's to many many more.
