Last night I met up with my crew - Linda, Mikey, and a new friend Kristin. We went to Mikey's favorite pizza joint - Grimaldi's. Yumm. The food was delicious and I'm so excited to have leftovers for today. You can't beat cold Meatlovers pizza for breakfast. Is there anything better??

My aunt left on Monday. We had a great time when she was here and wouldn't you know it, a day later, my cousin Vic on the other side of my family is arriving today. Oh, and let me just tell you how AMAZING the Beatles LOVE show was over at the Mirage. Wow. I loved loved loved it. I've seen A LOT of shows here in Vegas and I think LOVE might be my absolute favorite. Not to mention, our seats were right against the stage. My aunt really knows how to hook it up. I could literally stick my hand out and touch the performers and the music was so fun. Of course our night wouldn't be complete if I didn't take some pictures!!

I gotta say - when it rains it pours. I'm going to meet up with him for lunch today so that should be a good time. Vic married into the family and he's hella cool. He comes out to Vegas about twice a year. Loves it! Like I always say, the family that gambles together, stays together. hehe

I still haven't heard back from the local casino that promised me a second round of interviews. I'm going to call them today and find out the deal. I also have another lead on a job doing medical transcription from my home. I'm a really fast typist and I think I could really do well with a new opportunity. Not to mention, I type really fast. So, I'm going to look into that today as well. Does anyone have any experience in this field?

Oscar Awards Red Carpet

Here's my Academy Awards writeup - as always, feel free to agree and disagree with anything I say.


Heidi Klum...



At first I wasn't totally blown away with this dress, but after looking through about 500 pictures this morning and half of them were yawn - boring - I came back to Heidi and her dress really popped out. I love the color. I love the high slit. I love the cut on the shoulders. They call this an architectural dress and only a woman with a great body like supermodel Heidi Klum can pull this off. I think she looks pretty amazing.

Jessica Biel...



I'm not a fan of this dress. I don't like the weird sash coming from the top. I also think the color is boring. I do like her hair and makeup though. The dress would probably be fine if the sash would just go away.

Sara Jessica Parker...



I love this dress. I think she looks like a fairy princess. I love dresses like this with the full skirt and the slim top. Beautiful. I'm glad she wore her hair down too.

Marillon Cotillard...



This is another dress that kind of reminds me of a princess and again I love it. The full skirt is beautiful, the black color is a staple and the shiny blue really makes it pop. This is one of my favorites of the night.

Miley Cyrus...



I'm not a fan of Miley, I think she's a spoiled brat, but I do like this dress. She's really coming into her own in the fashion world. I love the back, I love the layers and her hair and makeup look fabulous too. I was pretty impressed with her.

Natalie Portman...



I like that she took a chance with color because there wasn't a ton of color on this red carpet last night. I'm not a huge fan of the bubble gum pink/pepto bismo color though. I think a lighter pink would have been better. But, anyway, the cut is beautiful on her, she looks very slim and the braided top is unique - adds a little punch.

This is a beautiful dress. I love the color - it's such a unique color and it's so flattering on her. However, I'm not a fan of the one arm look. I don't like that one of the arms is completely covered with lace and one of them is totally uncovered. It's unbalanced to me. I'm also not a fan of the lacy top.

Marissa Tomei...




There is way too much going on in this dress. I don't like it. I think Marissa looks great, I'm just not a fan of this busy dress.

Angelina Jolie...



Can you really go wrong with basic black? She looks elegant and classy. I love the pop of color we get by her ears. She looked fantastic.

Kate Winslet...



I'm so torn. On the one hand, I think she looks very regal and elegant. On the other hand, I think the color is a little boring and I'm not a huge fan of the one shoulder look.

Beyonce...



I'm so unhappy with this look. I hate the crazy gold flowers. The shape looks fantastic on her body, she really knows how to play up her curves, but I'm so NOT a fan of the wretched flowers.

I love the color, but I think there is a little too much going on in this dress. We could probably do without the big bow in the front and the shoes are a little much as well.

These two are just adorable on and off the red carpet. They make such a cute couple and they both look fantastic.

I love this dress! It's so complimentary to her figure, the color looks great on her, there is some sparkle, but not too much and I just think it's beautiful. It's one of my favorite dresses of the night. I love her necklace too.

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer didn't walk the red carpet, but they attended the ceremony and she looked AMAZING. I loved her hair, I loved the dress and they looked really happy together.



She dresses very conservatively and she doesn't wear much color, she's usually always wearing black, so it's nice to see her in white with lots of sparkles. She's a natural beauty and she always looks great.

Another Blow

I was riding high from my awesome job interview yesterday and then I woke up and saw a message from a guy I used to work with. We are both die hard Adam Corolla fans and we saw Adam and the gang live together when they came to Sin City.

So, I wake up and I have this text message waiting for me "Oh my god - are you listening to this?" I knew he was referring to something being said on the Adam show, but I figured it was a fucked up guest or some crazy news story, I wasn't prepared for what I saw next. He says "they are taking Adam off the air". I turned on the live broadcast in lightning fast speed and he was right. Tomorrow is the last day the Adam Corolla show will be on the air - due to the fucking economy.

How does one of the highest rated morning shows with an ever growing population of listeners go off the air when they are in their heyday? Well, it's a lot cheaper to play music all morning rather than paying a whole crew of people to talk for four hours - am I right? Even though his show is doing very well in the ratings, they decided to pay him off for his one year contract and they are pulling the plug. It's all about money and let's be honest, it's a lot cheaper to play CD's.

I'm devastated. If it wasn't bad enough that they fucked me over and kicked me out on the street, but now they are taking away my beloved Adam Corolla. I can't even believe it. This economy is unbelievable. It's really messed up.

I know that when things turn around he'll be back on the air and I'll eventually get another job too, but dayumm - I wasn't expecting this.

I will say that I'm glad they gave us a little warning instead of just pulling the plug. I hate it when you hear your normal person on the radio one day and then the next day you hear nothing but ranchero music and there is no explanation as to what happened to your deejays or why they aren't on the air anymore. I feel the same way about people who blog. One day you are reading an awesome blog and you love it and you look forward to reading it everyday and then for the next six months you check back everyday only to read the exact same post over and over again or better yet, they just get rid of the web address and there is no explanation. I always wonder if the person died or did life just show up and they got super busy? Either way rest assured readers - if I was to quit blogging - I'd tell you guys. I wouldn't make you check back over and over. It's the least I can do.

There is one bright spot - tomorrow I'm going to see LOVE at the Mirage with my mom and my Aunt. I've been dying to see the Beatles Cirque show and I know it won't disappoint. I've heard great reviews. It should be a fun day. Hanging with my family always puts me in a better spot :)

Great Day

I ran into a friend the other day and she told me she was a little disappointed because she made it through the first two interviews at a new Casino/Hotel that was built here and is soon to be opening. I knew the place was going to be up and running soon, but I didn't realize they were almost done hiring all the new employees. So, I went online yesterday and morning and unfortunately all of the administrative positions were filled, but they were still looking for food servers and to be honest, I kind of miss waiting tables. The cash is fast, you walk away with money after every shift and there's always the possibility that you can make BIG money during any given shift and I kind of like the excitement. I like sleeping in and working like 4 - 10 p.m. I like not having to deal with 7:00 a.m. morning rush hour traffic, I like meeting new people on a daily basis and I enjoy being on my feet sometimes instead of just sitting on my ass all day.

So, I filled out the application, it took like 30 minutes and at the end, they gave me an immediate job interview for today at 2:30 p.m. I headed over there today, and the place is pretty beautiful. I love the look of a brand new casino - ahhhhhh.

The interview process was different. They had a group of us - about 15 people. We all checked in and we were given sticker badges with out name on it. Next, they gave us a short tour of the new place and because it's a locals casino and they are catering to people that live here in Sin City, they had some unique amenities. Not only did they have their own gas station, but they also had a pharmacy inside the casino. Right there in the middle of the slot floor - a pharmacy. Isn't that crazy? I'm not kidding. My guess is that they are just trying to think of any way they can to get people in.

So, after the tour, they brought us all into a room, and we all went around the room and introduced ourselves, told everyone what position we were applying for and why we want to work at their fine establishment.

Next, they broke us up into three teams. Each of the three teams had to try to solve a puzzle using team work. Nobody solved the puzzle, but I guess it was a good way for them to watch us work together as a team and to see how we would handle a timed puzzle under pressure.

There was an older lady on my team that was seriously barking out orders the rest of us, she had a short temper and I could almost see steam coming out of her ears. I knew there was no way she was going to pass this test.

After the puzzle thing was finished, they went around and asked us each one customer service question. The question they gave me was "Name three characteristics of a successful team player".

My answer was "trustworthy", "positive attitude" and "efficient". I could have answered those questions all day. I felt good about my answers, I smiled a lot, I made eye contact, looked interested and didn't even yawn once!

I was a little disappointed that we only got to answer one question. I was hoping we would have a little more time to showcase our personalities. In a group interview, it's imperative that you make yourself stand out in a positive way and they didn't give us much time to do that.

The three interviewers excused themselves, they walked outside to compare answers and then they returned and read about 10 names from their lists. Those ten people were told to leave the room and they kept five of us there for a few minutes and then they broke the news to us - we made the second round!!!! woo hoo! I'm psyched! I'm really excited that I made it to the second round. I'm looking forward to the next interview which will no doubt be a one on one interview in a more intimate setting. My fingers are crossed that I get this job. I really needed a day like today. My confidence and my spirits have been lifted. I'm feeling great and even if I don't get the job, at least I made a break in the fog that has been hanging over my head for the past month.

So, that was my day.

I would love to blog about some really exciting stuff, but to be honest, I've been doing nothing. It's all I can do during the day to get off the couch. I haven't been looking for work, I haven't been going out of the house much, and I've just been really depressed.

I did call my friend Sue yesterday and talked to her about moving in. Both of my parents expressed concern about me moving in with another guy and I agreed with them. I'm feeling MUCH more comfortable about moving in with a girl for once. Her place is smaller, but it's closer to the part of town I'm used to living in and I'll have a really big walk in closet so that's a good thing.

I did manage to get off the couch Sunday for a few hours and went over to my parent's house to see them. Opey (their new puppy) is getting so big. He can jump up on the couch all by himself now. We went to Olive Garden for dinner. It definitely hit the spot. I love me some Olive Garden.

And, believe it or not, I actually went out on Valentine's Day too. I had a date and he took me out for Ethiopian food. As one of my friends said "I thought they didn't have food in Ethiopia" ha ha. Apparently they do eat in Ethiopia. They just don't use utensils. You have to eat with your hands. It was fun and different. I love trying new things. I had a blast!

So, that's it for me. Now you guys are caught up.

Slow week

So, I just heard the craziest shyt on Adam Corolla today. Apparently, people are up in arms about Kelloggs dropping Michael Phelps - especially the stoners. They are doing a boycott of all Kelloggs products which, is no easy task. Have you noticed how much stuff on the shelves are by Kelloggs? It's a lot.

Anyway, the funniest part is that a Baltimore radio station is filling a port a potty with Kelloggs stuff and inviting listeners to come on down and defacate on the boxes of cereals and what not. Yuck!

Why Baltimore? Well, it just so happens that Michael Phelps is from Baltimore and so am I. So, yeah, come on down and crap on some Kelloggs stuff. Nice. Only in Baltimore I swear.

And, if I hear about Chris Brown beating up Rihanna one more time. Sheesh. I can't even tell you how many guys have put their hands on me, but you don't see me all over the news do you? But, Rihanna gets beaten up and it's national news and it's all I've been hearing about all day everyday - that, and that A-Rod did steroids and that a crazy chick had 8 kids. Slow news week I guess.

Of course, I'm not much better because I'm blogging about it. Well, that's because I really don't have anything else going on either. Slow week for me too.

Third Year of Dopes

So, last night I headed over to the pizza meeting to meet up with my friend Shelly to pay for Dopes on Slopes. Every year we all go to Brianhead, UT for a weekend of skiing/snowboarding/tubing etc. and it's a blast.

The first year I went was almost three years ago. They donated the trip to me because I was a newcomer to the program and they had an extra female bed. I was nervous because I didn't really even know that many people, but I borrowed a snow suit, caught a ride with someone and just let loose. It was the best time I ever had. I went last year too and again, it was a blast.

So, even though I'm on unemployment and I'm not working and maybe I shouldn't be spending that extra $100 to go skiing - FUCK IT! I'm doing it anyway. I got the last female bed again this year. Nothing like waiting to the last minute like I always do! I'm such a procrastinator. I'm just glad I got in. Next step - find someone to take the beautiful ride through Utah with me. I can do it alone, but it's more fun to have a girlfriend or whatever.

I'm trying to talk Angie into going, but she has the whole two kids thing and has to beg her mom to watch them for a whole weekend. Not to mention, she doesn't ski. But, whatever, I'll find someone.

The job search isn't going so hot and that's basically because I haven't been looking. ha ha Funny how that works. I know firsthand that jobs don't usually fall in your lap, and yet, that's what I'm sitting around hoping for. ha ha

I'm gonna get off my ass and start looking - soon - I swear. My saneness depends on it. My mind is running a million miles an hour since I'm not working - I'm kind of bored - kind of depressed and very unmotivated. It's a vicious cycle. I feel like shit about myself because I don't have a job and yet I'm not looking for a job because I'm super depressed. Vicious cycle that I've been through before and I know how to fix it - get out there and look for work - duh! Also, getting my ass back into the gym will be a big help too.

Anyway, blah blah. I feel like I'm boring you guys to death. I'll try to find something more interesting to write about tomorrow.

Grammy Awards Red Carpet

So, I'm a day late and a dollar short, but here's my Grammy Awards Red Carpet Update - and as always, I love to hear your feedback even if you totally disagree with me. That's the beauty of fashion, it's really just a personal choice and there's no right or wrong answer although I'm totally right no matter what you think :) ha ha

So, let's start off with our favorite crazy, slurring, trainwreck of a hot mess - American Idol Judge and lunatic Paula Abdul...



She never disappoints does she? There is A LOT going on in this picture. She kind of reminds me of an American Gladiator or something. The crazy metal stuff on her shoulder is over the top. The belt is retarded, the color is too loud and her hair is pulled up so high and tight that whatever remaining brain cells she had in that head of hers are probably dead now. But, I'm sure she enjoyed it so whatever.

What's she doing at the Grammys?? She's an actress right? Anyway the top of the dress is nice, and it really showcases her slim waist and her beautifully trim figure, but it gets a bit crazy down at the bottom. The train was way too big for that slim dress. So, I'd say this is a don't.

I hate this dress. It's so boring from the head down to the toe including the color and her hair. I'm not a fan. Plus, what the hell did she do to her face?? I haven't been able to put my finger on it, but she looks totally different. Like, she must have gotten some plastic surgery or something because her face doesn't even look like hers anymore.

Is she trying to imitate Angelina Jolie or what? There is only one Angie and Lisa definitely isn't her. She has a nice figure, but I think she looks a bit ridiculous in this dress. First off, she needs to cut down on the plastic surgery because she's way out of control. And, the way the top is cut on this dress is totally making her boobs look lopsided. I hate it. I think the slit is fine, if the top was more covered up. It's like, either go with the high slit, or go with the open chest, but don't do both. Less is more ladies.

I love the color of this dress. I think it's a beautiful pink. The top is way cute and the bottom is way cute. I could just TOTALLY do without the big crazy centerpiece. Am I right?

Tres chic! I'll give it to her - she looked very pulled together last night and this is probably the best I've ever seen her. She seems to be maturing and her style is growing up along with her.

Her outfit is so so. I'm not a huge fan - I think it's kind of bland. I mean, I do enjoy the nice daring neckline, but there's not much else to it. I'm not a fan of that messy up do hair either.

I love this outfit, but that's a given because I love sparkles. I like the neckline and I think it fits nicely to show off her curves. I did read a report somewhere the she looked fat in this dress, but I think that's insane. She's not fat at all.

They'll let anyone into these functions huh? Ummmmm - this is the ultimate babydoll dress I guess. This hemline couldn't get any shorter. I love the colors though. I love the purples and greens, it's pretty, but too short. I'll certinaly give it to her though, she has legs that go on for days.

She looks ridiculous like always. I guess it's her goal in life to be the most insane looking person on any red carpet.

I love Kim's style. I thought she looked beautiful last night and she did a good job as a runway correspondent. I love this dress. It's so unique and so beautiful and her body looked amazing along with her makeup and her hair. She's also a front runner for best dressed.

Look who's off the drugs, away from the wife beater and looking amazing. She's back and from what I understand she's doing a great job. It's good to see Whitney looking healthy and happy. I even like the dress.

Interesting Day

I made a new friend, her name is Angie and we've been spending a lot of time together - she's hella cool and she has two kids. She's married, but they are divorced, so basically at this point in time she's like a single mother. Anyway, yesterday we spent the day together, we had to run a bunch of errands and we brought her kids along with us. I never realized how much work it is having two kids. First off, I go to her house and she has two brand new car seats. So, we have to put those together and that's a pain in the ass. Next, we have to get them in the car properly which is another pain in the ass. She has to get a bag together with juice and extra clothes and whatever else you need when you are spending the day with two kids. When they were in the car, they were really good and I was impressed at how good they were. Her husband was in the hospital so we had to bring him some clothes. So, we had to go to walmart to get said clothes. Unfortunately, this is when the kids went ape shit. UGH! They were running around like crazy. They didn't listen to a word we said and they were pulling shit off the shelves. We waited in line for like 20 minutes to buy the stuff and as soon as we got to the cashier, Paige (the 2 year old girl) had to go to the bathroom. I offered to take her to the potty since Angie was paying. Dylan came along with me because he had to go too. Remember - I don't have kids, so taking two toddlers to the bathroom is a very new situation for me. The three of us went into the stall together - it was tiny, we could barely move. They were crawling on the dirty floor and trying to look under the stall at the people next to us. Sheesh! What an adventure.

We also ate at McDonalds over at the Walmart. The kids kept running into the kitchen which is always a good time. Not to mention they wanted to go up and talk to everyone at every table. Luckily most of the people were good sports about it.

After the walmart fiasco, we headed back to the hospital to drop off the clothes. The kids and I sat in the car and to entertain them I pulled out the camera.

So, what I have to say is that I have major respect for all of those single mothers out there. Wow. I definitely don't know if I could do it. All in all though, it was a fun day and I'm totally in love with the loving hugs I received from the kids. They are adorable!

Is it just me????? Or is there anyone else out there who is secretly kind of happy to see the photos of Michael Phelps smoking out of a bong? Seriously! I kind of like it. It makes him more human in my eyes. He was mister perfect before and just because he was smoking some weed, that doesn't take away from all of his accomplishments, it just means that he needs to kick back and relax sometimes - am I right?

Of course, it's unfortunate that he'll probably lose half of his endorsement deals. Why's everyone gotta be so uptight?? Sheesh.

MIA

Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been a little MIA lately. You guys know that I usually don't slack off on my blogging, but unfortunately I've been in a major funk and when I get depressed it's hard for me to be creative.

As you know my company laid some people off a little over a month ago and I was lucky to make it through the first round of layoffs. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky about two weeks ago when they made the second round of layoffs. I got a tap on the shoulder and was told to come to the conference room along with a few other employees. We were given the boot and it just really sucks. Not only was I told that today would be my last day, but they insisted on escorting each one of us to our desks as if we were common criminals. I mean, ya know, I understand it's policy and everything, but what a shitty way to end things. So humiliating!

I really loved that job. I feel like I worked the hardest that I've ever worked and I gave that place my all. I felt so good about myself for not calling out sick and for showing up on time everyday and for always having a positive attitude at work. I just cant think of anything else I could have done better, so I'm just at a loss.

Whenever I fucked up in my personal life or I got in a fight with a friend or things didn't work out with a guy, I thought to myself "well, at least I still have my job". And now, I don't even have that to fall back on. I'm back at square one and I'm not feeling very hopeful.

I went to a meeting tonight and there were about 40 people there. I swear to you more than half of the room was unemployed at this time. Every other day I hear about another friend getting laid off and it's scary. I don't even know where to begin looking for jobs. I don't want to go through another year of learning a new job and then get laid off again.

I'm thinking maybe I'll try the medical fields since they seem to be in high demand. I dunno.

So, yeah, I'm depressed and sad and scared and life just isn't looking so bright for me right now.



I got a text from my friend David earlier tonight and he had two free tickets to the 'O' Cirque Show at the Bellagio for tonight. So, I met him over there for 10:30 show and I was not disappointed. I knew it was going to be awesome and it was. So, at least I got out of the house and shut my head down for a good hour and a half. I have to be honest, I had a hard time concentrating on the show and just letting loose because my head kept running.




I would recommend 'O' to anyone who hasn't seen it. It's a pretty amazing show. I've been wanting to see it since I moved here and I finally got my opportunity so that was a pretty cool thing.


At any rate, I know that things could be a lot worse and at least I'll be getting unemployment for quite a while. I think I can collect it for a whole year actually and then Obama might even be doing another extension so that's pretty cool.
