I'm all moved

Okay, so I am totally moved into my new place. Cox communications came out today and I got my internet hooked up. I'm heading over to the old place to pick up the very last of my things and help ex-roommie with the cleaning and then it's done. He's moving, I'm already moved and we are making a clean break. I feel a little sad. I've lived with ex-roommie for like 4 years now. It's going to be SO weird living without him. He's been my rock for so long, but I guess all good things must come to an end. But who knows - out paths might cross again in the future and I hope they do.

I have so much to blog about- but I don't have the time to do it right now. I just wanted to let everyone that I'm alive and kicking and doing well. I love the new place, the new roommie and I are getting along great and he has two very loving dogs and you guys know how much I love dogs.

Well - happy tuesday guys - I'll definitely blog about everything later.

Peace out!

Dancing with the Stars - Week 3

The second person to go home - Denise Richards - not surprising at all...

Lil Kim and Derek...

Lil Kim and Derek came out with a very energetic samba. Kim has a lot of sex appeal, she is very energetic and she has a lot of rythm. The only problem with her dance is that the timing was a bit off. With a little more work, she'll be a top contender.

Denise and Maxim...

Poor Denise. It was hard to watch this dance. Her and Maxim did a very disappointing smba. It was horribly awkward and I was embarrassed for her.

Chuck Wicks and Julianne...

Chuck and Julianne really picked up this week. They did a nice fox trot. Chuck took a leading role and it was easy to see that he has some skills. I love watching the two of them together - it definitely doesn't hurt that Chuck Wicks is VERY pleasing to the eye. Makes me want to start listening to country music.

Holly and Dmitry...

Holly and Dmitry did a samba and the girl has no rythm. She was almost as bad as Denise. She really needs to pick it up if she wants to continue on in this competition. She's very stiff and awkward and she can't even shake her hips. It's surprising that a playboy bunny can't shake it.

Steve O and Lacy...

Steve and Lacy did the foxtrot and unfortunately, Steve messed up bad. I caught two big mistakes during his routine and he looked so nervous. I will say that it's obvious he's trying very hard. I just think he let his nerves get the best of him this week.

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta...

Lawrence and Edyta did a really fun samba. I loved it. It was a very enjoyable routine - he has natural rythm and it shows. He's light on his feet and they move well together.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas...

Shawn and Mark did a forgettable foxtrot. She is very graceful and she knows how to work hard and it's obvious that she knows her stuff, but she isn't FEELING the music and she needs to let loose a bit. She needs to really pump it up next week. I wanna see the sexy!

Gilles and Cheryl Burke...

Speaking of sexy - Shawn could take a lesson or two from Gilles - wow! I never saw such an amazing and HOT samba. This couple is RED HOT and they are amazing and awesome and I love them. I haven't seen Cheryl Burke shake her hips this hard ever. Do yourself a favor and watch this dance - I'll put it in this post!

David Alan Grier and Kim Johnson...

\

DAG and Kim did a really cute foxtrot. It was fun and it reminded me of a broadway number. He came out in tails and a top hot - so adorable.

Steve Wozniak and Karina...

Oh Woz - Silly boy. I guess since he can't dance to save his life, he just decides to come out with the silliest stuff he can think of. They are kind of entertaining, but it's about time for them to head on home. It's obvious that he has no talent and he should just hang it up.

Melissa and Tony...

Melissa did a dazzling foxtrot. I don't like the foxtrot very much, but I really liked watching these two. They were upbeat, dynamic and I didn't want to turn away.

Ty and Chelsea...

Ty and Chelsea did the foxtrot and I have to say that Ty gets the award this week for most improved. Chelsea actually fell twice during this dance and Ty totally took it in stride. He was very smooth, he didn't let the slips mess him up and he handled himself very gracefully. Good for him!

My favorite dance of the night - Gilles and Cheryl's samba...

More Dopes on Slopes

Here's a couple more pictures from Dopes on Slopes...

This is the actual group shot - there was about 80 of us - I can't believe we all fit into one picture...

Me and Devin...

(FYI - Devin and I used to date)

Me and a couple of the girls...

These are some of my favorite hotties...

(FYI - I used to date the one in the middle) ha ha - are we seeing a pattern?

Anyway, Saturday we got up early and we headed over to the ski rental place, got our skiis and boots and then went over to the mountain. I signed up for the relay race and I hit the bunny slopes a few times to get my bearings. I didn't fall once. I was thinking it was going to be a really good day. Then, I got cocky and hit the intermediate slopes with Toni Jo and Max...

The three of us take off down the hill, I'm going REALLY fast, too fast actually because I had no control, I hit a bump and that was all she wrote. I fell chin first into the snow and I started rolling down the hill. I lost both of my poles and both of my skiis. I kept thinking about poor Natasha Richardson as I was rolling down the hill and I was hoping I wouldn't end up just like her.

Eventually, I stopped and a few people helped me gather my skiis and poles so that I could continue on down the hill. Once my friends realized that I was okay, they spent the rest of the day telling everyone else in our group and harassing me. At the end of the day, we had an awards ceremony and I won the award for biggest wipeout of the day - also known as a yardsale.

See...

Good thing I have an awesome sense of humor.

Dopes on Slopes

I'm back from Utah. As always, Dopes on Slopes was a blast. I rode up to Brianhead with my friend Shelly. The altitude kicked my ass like it always does. I was so out of breath just from walking up one flight of stairs. Carrying suitcases into the condo is always a real challenge because we are up so high on the mountain.

Friday night we had a great meeting at the clubhouse. It was a candlelight meeting and the room was super cozy and intimate, therefor we were all sitting very close to each other. I liked it. Normally I wouldn't like being in such a small room where people are practically sitting on each other's lap, but for some reason, I don't mind it when we are up in the mountains.

There were 10 people that drove in from California, 5 people from Florida and 4 people from Fargo, North Dakota. It's amazing how far people are willing to travel! I met this girl Sabrina and she came all the way from Fort Lauderdale. She was supposed to come with a friend, but he ended up relapsing, so he stayed in Florida because he was using. So, she came alone. She didn't know a single person and that didn't stop her. That's pretty brave right? She flew from Florida to Vegas, rented a car, and drove to Brianhead all by herself. She ended up sharing a condo with me.

Me and Sabrina...

Group Shot...

When the Friday night meeting was over, I stayed in the clubhouse and played in a Texas Hold Em Tournament with the boys. I was totally in my element - it was me and 8 boys. Can't get better odds than that right?

This is me and two of poker playing buddies...

I took third place, so I got my buy-in back. That made me happy.

Me and Max...

Jeremy and Doug...

Phil, Rene and Jordan...

I'm heading to the gym - I'll post later. More pictures and stories to come.

Skiing

I'm just putting the last few items in my suitcase. I hope I didn't forget anything. I'll be leaving for Brianhead, Utah in a few minutes - going skiing for the weekend. I think we have a group of 100 people - should be a really good time. I'm pretty excited.

Fingers crossed that I don't hurt anything - I don't have any health insurance right now, so the last thing I need to do is break a bone.

Have a good weekend kids. I'll have lots of pictures for you Rock Dog - check back on Monday!!

Update

I signed up for the mookie and I'm just waiting for 7 p.m. to strike the clock so I can start playing. In the meantime, I thought I'd give you a little Carmen in the Sin City update.

In the past few days, I updated my resume and cover letter and I started applying for lots and lots of jobs. I probably applied for about 40 jobs in my field of expertise in the past few days and I'm just crossing my fingers hoping to get some phonecalls. So far, only one person has responded and that company didn't offer any benefits at all. No health insurance or anything and the base salary was like $6.00 less an hour than what I was making at my last job. Fuck that. I know I might not get quite as much as I got at my last place, but I'm not settling for a job with NO benefits and a really low salary. Not yet anyway. I'm not that desperate yet. I'll just keep hunting away.

Oh yeah, and then earlier today I got a response from someone asking me to send my resume and a photo. I was like "what the hell?" A photo? It's not a modeling job or an acting gig - it's an administrative assistant position. Sheesh! Can you believe they actually asked me to send a picture? Isn't that weird?? I guess they figure they might as well weed out the ugly ones right away. No need to waste anyone's time right? I'll try not to take it personally if I don't hear from them since I sent the picture.

I'm finally feeling something I haven't felt in a long time. I was feeling a lot of desperation and depression and misery and now I can finally see the clouds are clearing, the fog is lifting and I actually feel some hope. Thank god thank god thank god. I honestly felt like I was never going to get out of the deep depression that I was in and now I feel like everything is going to be okay. It's a damn good feeling and I am so happy to be coming out on the other side. I heard someone the other day say that if you didn't go through bad times, you would never appreciate the good times and that made a lot of sense to me. I am going to try to enjoy the good feeling as long as I can because I know that a bad feeling could be right around the corner. Hopefully not though. I'm hoping the worst is over and that my life can only get better from here.

My parents and I went over to Don's house for dinner earlier tonight. Technically, it's my house too, but I haven't stayed there in like two weeks. I packed up a few things today and next week I'll pack up EVERYTHING and I'll be moving in with my friend David. I know I've gone back and forth with this "where I'm living" thing for a while, but I finally decided that I'm going to definitely move in with David. He has a nice 3 bedroom house in Henderson. It's drama free, it's clean and I'm a dog lover and he has two great dogs, so I'm looking forward to it. My parents are probably looking forward to me moving out too. I've gotten mighty comfortable here in their place and I can only imagine that they are ready to have their house back. We've all been getting along really well since I've been here so that's a good thing.

Best of all, I'm heading to Brianhead, Utah this weekend for my annual Dopes on Slopes ski trip. I'm super psyched. Good times ahead.

DWTS - Week Two

After watching the results show - the first person kicked off Dancing with the Stars this season is Belinda Carlisle.

That was a surprise to me. I wasn't expecting Belinda to be the first one off. I was leaning towards the cowboy, Ty Murray or maybe Steve Wozniak.

Looking forward to next week for sure!

------------------------------------------------

Belinda Carlisle and Jonathan...

Belinda started us off with the salsa. It was a fun dance and I enjoyed watching her. She was a tad bit stiff last week and it was good to see her letting loose a little bit and shaking her butt. She's got a ways to go, but she's definitely hanging in there.

Denise Richards and Maxim...

I was really impressed with Denise Richards this week. She came out and did a really great quick step. She REALLY brought it this week. Last week she was VERY out of her element and she looked so nervous. This week she relaxed, had fun, did a great ballroom quickstep and wowed the judges. Color me impressed and surprised. I didn't think she had it in her, but I stand corrected.

David Allen Grier and Kym Johnson...

The judges were not impressed with David this week. He did an okay salsa, but it fell pretty short of the expectations. His timing was off, his hip action was lacking and although he wanted to bring the difficulty, it just didn't work out for him.

Holly and Dmitry...

Again, another surprise. Holly came out and did a really great quickstep. She was WAY WAY better than last week. I was pleasantly surprised when I was watching her glide out on the floor. Can't wait to see what she does next week.

Melissa and Tony...

Melissa is quickly becoming my favorite girl. She's so fun to watch. She's beautiful, elegant, classy, comfortable in her own skin, and did I mention beautiful? She did an amazinzingly awesome salsa this week. She had great hip action, she has a lot of rythm and she moves very well. She's a true joy to watch and I can't wait to watch her get even better as the weeks go on. I would LOVE to see her in the finals.

Lil Kym and Derek Hough...

This week Lil Kim did a really nice quickstep. She's a great performer. You can tell that she is comfortable in front of the camera, she did a great job this week and I enjoyed watching the routine.

Steve O and Lacey Schwimmer...

Steve O got hurt during the week and then he hurt himself even more during the practice routine, so he wasn't able to perform. They showed his salsa from practice and the judges pretty much slammed him. They weren't impressed and neither was I. I think he has a lot of potential though, so I hope he gets better.

Lawrence Taylor and Edyta...

Lawrence came out and did a graceful quickstep. He improved a lot from last week and he looked very comfortable out there performing. He was powerful and graceful at the same time. I think he'll be around for a while.

Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough...

Chuck is so hot. I love watching him out there with Julianne. You can see there is real chemistry with these two. The judges felt that Chuck fell short in his salsa because they said he didn't dance enough and I think they are right. He has a lot of potential and should go for it instead of sitting back and letting Julianne do all of the dancing. Hopefully they will step it up next week.

Steve Wozniak and Karina Smirnoff...

Since Woz isn't exactly a dancing machine, Karina dresses his up in silly costumes and has him play silly. I guess it's working. He did a fun routine and the crowd seemed to like him. He's very personable and has great energy. They need to work on his dancing skills though.

Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas...

Shawn did a cute salsa this week, it was precise and clean and technically it was all good. She needs to just let loose a little more in the latin numbers though. She's a good dancer, but she needs to feel the music a little more.

Ty Murray and Chelsea...

Ty came out and did a pretty good quickstep. He was a lot better than last week. Last week he forgot half of the dance, so he really needed to bring it this week and he did. He's an okay performer, he's out of his element though and you can tell.

Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke...

Gilles and Cheryl did a cute superman themed quickstep. He is obviously one of the crowd favorites and he's eating it up. Him and Cheryl dance really well together, there is a lot of chemistry - I definitely see these two making it to the finals. So far both of their dances have been very powerful.

Here's Melissa and Tony doing my favorite salsa of the night...

Feels Weird

So, I'm still at my parent's house. It's a good thing. My mom is sort of making me get out of the house more and although I fight it a little bit, I know it's what I need. I've been going to the gym with her in the mornings and I've been hitting more meetings and tonight we are going to Famous Dave's for dinner - which is yummy! I love that place.

I'm just taking baby steps trying to get things in order. I bounced a check or two last week so I am taking care of that financial stuff tomorrow. I finally updated my resume and went online yesterday and applied for like 20 jobs and that was a good feeling. I'll feel even better if any of those applications turn into an interview. I think I do really well when it comes to interviews, so I'm just crossing my fingers hoping to get to the interview stage.

I went and got my fake acrylic nails off yesterday and I got a manicure on my real nails. It feels so weird to not have my nails on, but I'm typing a lot faster. I haven't had my real nails in a LONG TIME. I like the acrylic ones, but they are a pain in the ass to keep up, especially if you don't have a job.

I'm super excited to watch Big Love tonight. There are only 2 episodes left and it's getting so good. I love the show.

Next weekend I'm going to Brianhead, Utah for my annual ski trip with my N.A. friends. I'm riding up there with my friend Shelly, it should be a really good time. I am looking forward to it. Although, I'm a little nervous - I dunno why. I always get that way when I go away. I always have a good time though so I think it'll be fine. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Boring

So, my parents came back from maryland last night and I picked them up from the airport. I was all set to go back home, I had my suitcase packed and it was in the trunk. But, I dunno, I decided to stay with them for a couple of more days. I'm not really sure why, I just wasn't ready to go back to my place and deal with my life or something, so I'm staying with them for a little while longer. Who knows. They might totally get on my nerves after one day. Or vice versa. I might totally get on their nerves. But, it'll be nice to spend a little bit of time with them for now.

I went to the gym this morning with my mom. I'm sure I'll be sore as hell tomorrow because I haven't worked out in ages. I did like 30 minutes on the treadmill and some leg weights. I figured that was a good start. I didn't totally push myself because it's Day One.

Okay, I totally have nothing else to say. Sorry so lame. I'll try to think of some stuff to blog about later. It's hard to blog about stuff when you have absolutely nothing going on.

Season 8 - Week One of Dancing with the Stars

Lil Kim (Rapper) and Derek Hough...

Lil Kim started the show off with an awkward cha cha cha. I expected more from her - she was stiff and awkward, but I'll chalk it up to first night jitters and we'll see what happens next week. She has potential because I think she's got some rythm underneath the nerves.

Belinda Carlisle (80's Pop Sensation) and Jonathan Roberts...

I didn't expect much from Belinda and she performed an okay waltz. It was sufficient for the first night, it was pretty elegant, nothing stood out, but it will be interesting to see how she does in the latin numbers. I don't expect her to go too far in this competition.

Chuck Wicks (Singer) and Julianne Hough...

These two are a couple and they are good looking. They performed the waltz and I saw a lot of chemistry. He was elegant, he had some amazing lines and it was a nice dance - I can't wait to see what they do next week.

Gilles (Sex and the City Movie) and Cheryl Burke...

Wow! Cheryl Burke is probably thrilled with her luck. They hooked up her up with a hottie and he's got the moves! The crowd loved him. They did a very hot and sexy cha cha cha - there was a lot of chemistry and they are going to make it far! He's definitely one of my favorites.

Steve O (Jackass) and Lacy Schwimmer...

I love these two. I think they paired the perfect person (Lacy) with Steve - they are both kind of crazy and always pushing the boundaries. They did a beautiful waltz. Who would have thought that Steve O would be so graceful and pleasant to watch? I was shocked. I'm looking forward to seeing more from this couple.

Laurence Taylor (Football Star) and Edyta (The Body)...

These two did a very enjoyable cha cha cha. I dunno why, but athletes tend to do so well in this competition and I can see these two going far. I liked watching him. He was cute, he has a lot of rythm and I think they will definitely step things up next week.

Steve Wozniak (Co-Founder of Apple) and Karina Smirnoff...

Poor Steve. He sucks. He went out there and tried really hard and did a fun routine, but there is definitely NO natural ability in his body and he probably won't be on the show very long. Side note - Karina looks pissed the whole time she is dancing with him - I think it's hysterical - she never wins - she seems like a total bitch anyway.

Shawn Johnson (Olympic Gymnast) and Mark Ballas...

I love Shawn Johnson. I'm a former gymnast and I still love to watch gymnastics on T.V. Shawn has tons of natural ability, she performed and AMAZING waltz - it was beautiful and elegant and moving. She's a powerhouse and she is definitely going to do well - I'm looking for her to be in finals for sure.

Ty Murray (Cowboy) and Chelsea...

Ty did a pretty awkward cha cha cha. You can tell that he's uncomfortable on the dance floor. He was supposed to be dancing against his wife Jewell, but she ended up dropping out of the show due to injuries. I don't think Ty will make it very far - he's cute, but he's awkward.

Holly Madison (Girls Next Door) and Dmitry...

Holly is replacing Jewell and she only had like a week to learn the routine and bust out the cha cha cha. She was just so so. I don't think she has a lot of rythm. Sure, she's got the beautiful body and a great look, but her dancing leaves a lot to be desired. I was almost uncomfortable for her. We'll see how she does next week, but I don't expect to her to last.

Melissa Bankroft (From the Bachelor and as a replacement for Nancy O'Dell) and Tony...

Melissa only had 48 hours to learn the routine! She was a last minute replacement for Nancy O' Dell. She did an AMAZING waltz. You can tell that she has a lot of dance training in her past, plus she was a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader I think. I love her! I like watching her. She's an asset to the show and I hope she sticks around.

Denise Richards (Former Bond Girl)and Maksim (The Bad Boy)...

Denise sucks. I knew she would. Her and Holly are both equally beautiful, but awkward and uncomfortable on the dance floor. I wasn't expecting much from her and I wasn't given much.

David Alan Grier (Comedian) and Kym Johnson...

I love DAG. He's a really funny comedian - he's always on the Adam Corolla show and I thought he was fun to watch. He did a pretty nice waltz. I was surprised how elegant he was and how much I enjoyed watching him. It will be interesting to see what he does next week.

So far I am really impressed with this season of Dancing with the Stars. I can't wait to see how it plays out. There's a lot of talent in the pool.
