To Do

It's been getting so warm out here. I think it was like 75 degrees today and by the end of the week I think I heard it's going to be in the 90's. Can you believe that?????? First week of April and it's hitting 90 degrees already? Sheesh!!

I'm sitting here making myself a list of things I need to do tomorrow. I'm totally not a list person because I will write the damn thing and then of course I'll never look at it again. So, lists are good for me to collect my thoughts and try to organize my tasks in my head, but as far as like checking off items and what not - not happening!

I opened my wallet yesterday and realized my license was missing in action. I seriously have no idea in the world where it could be. I don't remember when was the last time I saw it. I don't remember taking it out to use it for anything and I can't even really back track to find the damn thing because I'm clueless. I did c heck my jean pockets to make sure it wasn't in any of them and of course it wasn't. I really don't want to go to the DMV to get a new one but I can't be running around town without an i.d. for very long. You have to show it all the time - especially at the casinos.

I just looked it up on the NEVADA DMV website and of course you have to apply in person and they give you a paper license to use until they send the new on to you in the mail. Are they doing that for you guys now too???? I guess it cuts down on fraud and identity theft if they send it to your house.

So, adding DMV to my To Do list for tomorrow. FUN! I was planning on getting up early, but now I'm definitely doing it, that way I can get in out and QUICKLY!! I remember in Florida you could make an appointment with the DMV and you didn't have to wait in the lines at all. I wish we could do that here.

Also in Florida you can apply for food stamps online. Here, you have to go to the crowded, smelly, cramped welfare office and wait FOREVER and a day. I can't figure out why the hell every state doesn't switch to the nice automated method. WE are so backwards out here sometimes.

Well, that's it for me - gotta apply for jobs. Goodnight kids!

i mean really

so, did you guys know that it's illegal (at least here in the state of nevada) to walk on the highway? A friend of mine ran out of gas and she wasn't very far from the exit at all, so she got out of her car and started walking. I was actually on the phone with her and as she was just about to hit the exit and get off the highway, a freaking state trooper pulls up behind her and does that little chirp chirp move to let her know she was being pulled over. They told her to put the phone down, but she didn't hang up so I was able to hear the whole thing. They asked her why she was walking and she told the cop (it was a girl) that she ran out of gas. She asked if she had I.D. and she said that she did, so she handed over her license and they ran it. Oh, they also asked her if she had ever been arrested and when she said yes, they asked her what for. Now, why is that relevant? I mean, why does it matter?? That shit irritates me. They've done that to me before too and it's like whatever, it's in the past and it shouldn't matter, especially in a traffic type situation. And, when I started to tell the cop that I was never convicted of anything, he said he didn't care and that he knows how the system works and he wanted to know if I was arrested and not what the outcome was. Hand to god!! So, if you are arrested and found NOT GUILTY, in their minds you are guilty no matter what because you were arrested for it. And, if you try to lie, which I did before, you are really screwed because as soon as they run your license they can see it anyway, so it's like, why are you even asking me in the first place?? I don't know if this is standard procedure in other states, I don't remember this shit ever happening to me in Maryland. But, here in Nevada, they are like total dicks. Some of them.

Anyway, Once the i.d. came back okay, they patted her down and put her hands behind her back while they were doing it, so she was like "am I being arrested?" and the girl was like "no, but I have to make sure you don't have any weapons on you now don't I? I can't have you in my car if you are a danger" and she said it all condescending like. Well, okay, sure that patdown makes sense, but maybe tell the person what's going on, that you are giving them a ride to the gas station etc. Don't just leave us hanging wondering if we are going to jail. Ya know?? Anyway, it turned out that the cop was pretty cool and she waited for my friend to get gas in her gas can and took her back up to her car. She didn't even go through her purse which was nice. She also told her that the state troopers will come bring you a gallon of gas if you ever run out of gas on the highway and she gave her the number so that she can call them next time. So, that was a cool thing to find out. You know I put that number in my phone immediately. hehe FYI. I freaking went to the gas station today and put in forty bucks of regular gas and barely got over the halfway mark. I mean really. This is pathetic!!

But, what I really need is AAA. I don't know how much it is a year, but the first time I ran out of gas in my new car, or maybe it was the 2nd time, I walked over to this bar/restaurant to see if anyone had a gas can and this girl that i didn't even know called AAA and told them where my car was. She hung up, I went to the bathroom and while I was in there, washing my hands, they were banging on the door telling me that AAA was already there filling up my car. Can you believe that???? It wasn't even her car and they didn't care and they were there so fast. It was amazing.

Anyway, enough about that. I gotta get back to job searching. Goodnight kids.

Last Week

Okay, so let me give you guys a little update...

I posted that message and got all the advice from you guys are realized this potential "employer" is actually a fraud. This was on a thursday I think. That very night while I was sleeping I got a message from him and he said he was Fed exing me a check and that it was already on the way and I'd have it on Friday. He said I should deposit the check and to let him know when the funds were ready for me. So, I woke up and showed my dad the message and like an hour later Fed Ex showed up and we didn't accept the package and it was sent back to wherever it came from. I never even saw it or opened it or anything.

So far it's Saturday night and I haven't heard anything back from him and I haven't told him yet that I didn't accept the package. I'm trying to decide if I should let him know right now or if I should wait for him to message me again.

Anyway, I got my tax check back and paid my parents a good portion of it and then I kept a tiny bit for myself for spending cash. I went to the Cannery with my dad tonight and broke even. I also worked with him two days ago and it was definitely hard work, I'm way out of shape and it was ROUGH on my knees and back because I was basically just pulling lots and lots of weeds. The yard was FULL of them. I worked for about three hours and that was enough for me. I'm so out of shape. good lord.

I am thinking I'll go out with him again this week and try it again and see if I can build up some stamina and work for a little more than just three hours.

I think this is my last week of unemployment so I really need to step up my game and find a freaking job already. Enough is enough for goodness sakes!!

Oh, and I ran into this girl that I knew when I first moved here. We both ended up in a 7-11 yesterday and I got her number. She's a really cool chick and I've been thinking that I need a good loyal trustworthy girl in my life. She could really fit the bill. In fact, I think I'll text her right now that I'm thinking of it.

Well, have a good Sunday, it's midnight now so I can go ahead and file my last week of unemployment. Good times.

Night!

Thanks guys

Wow!!!! Talk about a lot of feedback! I didn't even know I still had this many readers. I guess you all come out of the woodwork when you want to tell me how moronic I am. hehe Just kidding. I really want to thank you guys for setting me straight. I'm gullible, there's no denying it. Luckily I posted his e-mails!

So, my dad is retired but he started doing work for people in the community just for a little extra cash and because he loves being outside. He does such great work and for such reasonable prices that through word of mouth he's getting more and more and more work and now it's getting to be too much for him. I'm going to start going with him to help him out and to make some extra cash for myself. Honestly, if he wanted to, he could grow a really lucrative business out of this community. But, he's retired and he doesn't want to. But, I do! I mean really. Maybe this could be my calling. I love the idea of setting my own hours and being my own boss. But, I don't know anything about doing yard work. Obviously it's not rocket science but it does take some sort of knack. Especially like trimming hedges and that kind of stuff.

We'll see how tomorrow goes and work from there I guess.

Fingers Crossed

Okay, so I might have a job. i'm super duper duper super excited. It's kind of a weird situation though and I'm not sure if it's for real or not. The guy put an ad up on craigslist a while back (maybe a week or two ago) for a personal assistant. I sent my resume and a cover letter and really built myself up and eventually he responded to me a few days ago.

He says that the position is part time and it's a work out of your home deal. I'm really loving this idea because I haven't worked a full time job in a good year or two and I'm thinking this is a perfect way for me to start building my self esteem and get myself back into the work force but I'm not diving right in head first. I'm sort of starting at the shallow end and working my way back in gradually. So, I won't have a HUGE shock to the system. I'm embarassed to admit that I've been sleeping until 10 and 11 some days and I was worried about having to get up at like 5 or 6 a.m. again. Of course I'd be willing to do it, but this is a softer easier way I think.

Anyway, I haven't met the guy yet. We've corresponded over e-mail and he's going to send me a task in the next day or two and if he's pleased with my work I have the job. Well, actually, he already said I had the job, but I'm thinking a lot of weight will be placed on this first task and I'm really going to give it my all.

So, it's a part time gig and there aren't any benefits, but I'll be getting a consistent weekly salary that I"m pleased with and I'm actually looking really forward to this.

But, there's a little voice in the back of my head that's nagging at me that this is too easy and that he hasn't even met me and he's willing to hire me already?? And, is there some sort of catch? My mom is thinking the same thing too and her voice is nagging even louder in my head. hehe

So, let me copy the e-mail he sent me and let you guys read it and tell me what you think...

Blast from the...

Hmmmm, what's new?? I can't think of anything interesting to write about. So, let me do another blast from the past post...

I recently got a friend request from this guy John on facebook. I've thought about him from time to time and was wondering if he was okay because nobody knew where he was and he was partying VERY hard last time I saw him. Anyway, he's doing well now, but I'm thinking about the way in which him and I hooked up. Scandalous. He was actually hooking up with my friend Zaira. Zaira was in the Army and I was working at the Department of Defense and she was really into John. He was just using her for sex and it was really obvious and I thought he was pretty much a scumbag. But, some thing about him really intrigued me even though I knew he was 'poison' and I should stay away. I mean, not only was he sleeping with a freind of mine, but he was always flirting with and hooking up with other girls whenever we saw him at the club. He did a lot of drugs and back then I wasn't all that bad yet. So, he was definitely a bad boy and it showed all over his face. He had that 'I don't care' attitude and of course I found it somewhat infuriating and yet somewhat exciting. As always, in the back of my mind, I was going to be the one to change him. In fact, if I remember correctly, we didn't even get along when we first met because we were both too big for our britches. I didn't like the fact that he didn't kiss my ass and he, in return, didn't like the same thing about me. We were both used to sitting back and letting our prey come to us and neither of us worked very hard to get dates.

So, one night, and I'll never forget it... We went to the 930 club in Washington D.C. to see Three Doors Down play. I can't even remember if Zaira was there, but I'm thinking she wasn't. He kept staring at me and I was doing the same thing. We were flirting with each other which was unusual because usually we ignored each other. We both ended up in this dark hallway and he just like pushed me up against the wall and started kissing me. SEXY! I definitely liked it. After that we started dating and of course it was a secret because I didn't want Zaira to find out and I guess it all came out eventually, but who knows.

Around that time my house was finished being built and I moved in. We had a house warming party and John came over and we got trashed. He spent the night and I woke up in the middle of the night to see him peeing in the corner of my room on my BRAND NEW white carpet in my brand new house near my brand new furniture etc. I screamed at him to wake up. I guess he was dreaming that he was peeing in the bathroom but of course it was just my carpet. hehehe. Good times.

What was I thinking getting white carpet all through my new house?? Dumb Dumb Dumb

Bye Bye Sahara

So, it's official, the Sahara is closing it's doors for good as of May 16th. I'm sad! I love playing at that casino. It's old school and it definitely could use so me upgrades, but I always did really well on the slots there, plus they had like dollar black jack and stuff like that. It was a good time. I'll be sad to see it go. I also heard they are trying to open a new amusement park on the south end of the strip (near the Luxor and Mandalay bay). They tried that before and it didn't last, so I don't know what makes them think that it'll work this time around.

Does anyone have exciting plans for the weekend? I don't. Maybe I'll do some gambling and win some money. That would be nice.

Happy Friday.

Yikes

oh wow - I lived in Delray Beach for 3 years before I moved out here to Vegas. I don't remember anything like this ever happening there. Sure, this is everyday news for Vegas, but when I saw the Delray Beach headline I almost fell out of my chair...

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Several different agencies are working tirelessly to find out the identities of two children found in a Delray Beach canal on. Divers were back in the water Thursday morning.

A passerby spotted something strange bobbing in the water Wednesday morning and alerted police to the C-15 canal that stretches between US 441 and the Intracoastal Waterway.

The body of a girl, who appeared to be between 6 and 10 years old, was found in a duffel bag around 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The girl was dressed in short sleeves, dark pants, and blue polo sneakers. Her hair was arranged in beaded braids.

Police were doing a routine search for evidence, when they found the second child, stuffed in a suitcase around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He appeared to be between 10 and 12 years old. The boy was dressed in dark blue or black pants with no shirt.

"It's beyond what we can really fathom. I don't know who would hurt a child," said Delray Beach Police spokesperson Nicole Guerriero.

The canal in which the children were found runs 8 miles from west to east and it passes several major thoroughfares, like 441, I-95, Federal Highway.

Houses line the canal and neighbors were stunned.

"I dunno how anyone could take an innocent child and torture, murder them or anything. Just dump them to be eaten by gators," said one.

"I mean I have children, a daughter, you're suppose to take care of your children," said another.

Many people who use the canal did not notice anything unusual over the weekend, leading them to believe the bodies were dumped within the past 48 hours.

Police are asking anyone who has not seen their grandchild, a niece, or nephew to call them.

There's no word yet on how the children died or how long they were in the water for.

Police are investigating the deaths as homicides and believe the killings are related.

Of course, this is the crazy story I was actually searching for...

SAN DIEGO - 72-year-old Frank Rose, who suffers from neuropathy, said he awoke Thursday morning to find some of his toes missing, and he believes his two small dogs did it.

His long time partner, George Chilson, called 911 to report the incident.

When San Diego police responded they found blood on one of the dog's faces, some of the victim's toes missing, and a substantial amount of blood nearby.

The dogs, "Victoria" and "Elizabeth," are 1-year-old and 2-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

Rose didn't realize the dogs had chewed off his toes because he has no feeling in his foot.

Rose has already lost one foot to his nerve condition and Chilson said the other one was heading down the same path.

He said Rose is at Scripps Mercy Hospital doing just fine, but will need surgery on Friday.

"He's sitting in bed, laughing and joking with the nurses and doctors."

Chilson wanted to make sure people understood that this wasn't a vicious attack, and he believes the dogs were actually trying to help Rose.

"I've noticed if I've cut my leg and have a scab, they'll lick it to heal it," Chilson said.

"I'm shocked. It's hard to believe," said Stephen Taylor, when told the grim news his neighbor had his toes bitten off by his dogs.

Another neighbor called the animals "sweet little dogs" and said his granddaughters often played with the two dogs.

"Those dogs are cuter then all-get-out," said Taylor. "I know they had the one and then they got another one because they loved them. That's just incredible."

Investigators filed a bite report and Animal Control has taken over the investigation.

"The owner woke up and his toes were gone," said Lt. Dan DeSousa with the County Department of Animal Services. "He doesn't know why it happened and the dogs aren't talking."

DeSousa said in his 22 years with the department, he has never seen anything like this.

The breed is known as happy and lovable and often serves as lap dogs. "So, for something like this to happen is very unusual," he said.

"This was a freak accident and I think that's just the way it's going to be handled," said DeSousa.

They have been secured and will be quarantined in the home for 10 days.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yikes - can you imagine???? I certainly cannot.

2011 Academy Awards Red Carpet

Since Anne was hosting the awards show, we'll start off with her.

She looks nice in this red dress. It's nothing majorly special. Kinda safe if you ask me. Red is definitely appropriate. Wearing your hair up is just what you'd expect. If you ask me, she had some way more awesome dresses during the show. She just kind of played it safe for the red carpet.

Anne Hathaway

Sandra Bullock

Another Red Dress with her hair pulled up. Sandra Bullock. Again. She definitely looks nice. But I wasn't blown away with this number. In fact, if you ask me, I think she looks better with her hair down. But, oh well.

Hilary Swank

I love this dress, I think it's awesome. I love the way the color gradually changes from top to bottom, but her hair REALLY needs to be down. The way she has it pulled back is way too severe and makes her look boyish.

Mila Kunis

I love the color of this dress. She looks really beautiful. The color is perfect with her skin tone and her hair. And, the fit and the cut just made this dress look like it was made for her. Perfect fit. Loved it.

Marissa Tomei

I'm definitely not feeling it. I don't like the color and to be honest, this dress looks like something you'd buy in Macy's for your prom.

Natalie Portman

I love this deep purple color on her. She's pregnant, but it doesn't really show all that much because of the cut and the style of this dress. She looks beautiful, she's glowing and I love her hair and makeup.

Scarlett Johansen

Um, not so much. I don't like this lacy thing she's wearing. I don't like the color and did she just come in off the beach or what? Her hair is totally not working for this red carpet.

Jennifer Lawrence

If you are going to do red, this is the way to do it. I love the minimalistic cut, it shows off her curves beautifully and she is definitely working the red carpet. I love it.

Celine Dion

Um - wow! I have never ever ever seen Celine look so damn good. She looks amazing. I love this material of this dress. I love the shimmer. I love that she's showing off her amazing body and didn't she just have twins a few months ago? Wow. She really looks hot.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Not to be outdone by Celine, Gywnnie comes right along behind her and does a very similar dress, with that awesome shiny material and again, she's showing off her beautiful body and her amazing hair. I love that she wore the hair down and the makeup is perfect.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese has always been one of my favorites and this year she is no exception. I'm not totally in love with the black and white dress. It's safe. It's nothing amazing or exciting, but I really love her hair in this ponytail. I wish she'd wear it like this more often. I don't think I've ever seen her look bad ever. She's always so consistently classy, elegant and stylish.

Halle Berry

Halle, like Reese can almost never do wrong in my book. I love this dress on her. She looks beautiful. It's so unique. I haven't seen anything like this before and it just hugs her curves in the best way. If I could make one tiny change it would be to the color. I just think the champagne color is a tad dull and could be livened up. But, she looks awesome.

Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz

Penelope is so hot. These two as a couple are amazing. I love her sparkly dress and she's another one that just had a baby. How do these chicks lose this weight so quickly??

My pick for worst dressed is...

Cate Blanchett

Yuck. Worst Dressed. This dress is really not working for me. She looks like she's wearing a bib and I'm just not feeling it at all.

My pick for Best Dressed is...

Jennifer Hudson

Another WOW! Damn! How awesome does Jennifer look? And, I'm in love love love with the color of this dress. She really took a chance with this dress and it payed off. I'm amazed how far this chick has come from the idol days. She's lost so much weight and she even had a baby. LOVE IT!
